OK, not starting in Enhanced mode helps but doesn't cure the problem. It still happened but took much longer.

Locking it to one CPU worked as well. Ditto for turning off HT so it it looks like a threading issue.

I did this as Snake suggested:

How to set the 3.01 Affinity to a single CPU: To set Affinity, run 3.01 and hit ctrl+alt+del, go to the processes tab if it isn't already, right click on the Naturalpont, click on the Set Affinity option and uncheck CPU 1. You'll have to do this everytime you start 3.01, or turning off HT completelty should be an potion in the BIOS, but it will have an effect on performance.
Also try turning of the the "Remember mode at Startup" option in the motion page. It seemed to work for a little bit for me and wwsensei says it works for him. Let me know what works for you so we can have as many fixes to this as possible.

And everything works fine now. Thanks!

Now, anybody have a IL2 FB profile they'd like to share? I like this thing a lot so far but I could use a bigger deadzone I think. I'm using Hunter's profile now.

Thanks again Snake.

Thanks again Snake.Glad I could be of service! I don't really have a IL-2:FB profile right now, or I'd send it to you, sorry. I deleted all my old ones when I was trying to fix this problem incase if one of my old profiles was causing the fix. Now I know that they weren't, hehe oh well.

(whew) Thank goodness other people are having the same problem. Just got my TrackIR the other day and started running into the runtime error. Wasn't really sure what to do - but now that I see that it seems (?) to be a Hyperthreading issue (I have a new machine with HT)... hopefully the folks at Naturalpoint can come up with a patch.

Just saw this ( I usually stay in the original TIR area, as I don't have a TIR 2 )....ok, using Snake's suggested workaround of setting the 3.01 Affinity to use only one CPU fixed my twin track window and error interrupts.

I do have the unit plugged into a USB 2.0 port...it's all I have on my motherboard. I do have a 1.1 self powered hub, but I never had a problem with 2.11 so never tried it there. It has worked fine running through a USB 2.0 port until the version 3 software.

Occasionally...like if I try to load the software after doing something else, like browsing the web, I get a message saying the software could not detect a tracking device connected to the computer. If I reboot, it works ok again.

I haven't a clue if that is connected to USB 2 issues, or to the HT issue. I suspect it is the HT issue....once I have the software running with Affinity set to one CPU, I can run a sim, exit it to edit TIR, re-enter sim, exit and edit, re-enter...without problem.

So, it would seem just stopping the software's use of HT corrects most of the issues for me. But that is with a TIR1, not a TIR2.

I suspect it wouldn't matter...it seems to be the software, not the hardware.

Do you have a VIA chipset?

Charlie; If the question was directed to my post, answer is no. Intel chipset, Abit BE7 motherboard, P4 3.06 @533, Intel Application Accelerator, Windows XP Home w/SP1 fully updated via Windows Update.

Nealg: Yeah, sorry I should have been more specific. Had time constraits but wanted to get that out there!

I just wanted to make sure as VIA chipsets do not like TrackIR. I think my system is the only one that has a VIA chipset and works awesome with TIR. Strange.

Second thing is that TIR does have issues sometimes when running directly off mobo USB headers. A PCI USB interface card is recommended. But, that all came about with the VIA chipset issue so I do not know if it would fix your issues in this case.
