Mine came this morning, haven't even tried it yet but just wanted to check a few points.

Same TrackIR box (obviously not changed yet) with a product code on the side indicating it is TrackIR2.

I already had a late model TrackIR with the clear design so that it so different but I can see that the LED is now a bi/tri colour unit.

The USB cable is now a single, longer length, no extension given (even though the old box still quotes the 4' extension on the side)

Comes with some of the larger dots.

No TrackHat for me - I ordered from eDimensional.co.uk - should I expect their stock from NaturalPoint to also include the promotional free hat?

Love the blue glow in enhanced mode!

It seems to be smoother too. The red/green LED is also nice.

Exact same thing happened to me today. Got my TrackIR2 from eDimensional.co.uk. Its in the TrackIR box but says TrackIR2 and the serial number on the side of the box.

I never had TrackIR so could someone please tell my the noticeable differences between the 2.

Still have not received my one yet; I have been told by Edimensional uk that they are waitting for the shipment to arrive into this country anytime soon...Seems like there here then =)

I asked the chap from Edimensional(Michael) if I would get the free hat like what is says on this site, but he reply was, and I quote:

"We also charge over $30 less than Naturalpoint does for the trackIR in the UK so if you want, we can add the hat for just $15 plus a few dollars for shipping.
"
I have asked him to clarify why we UK saps do not get the free hat thrown in; I am still waitting for a reply.

Tartan, I am a trackIR1 user and I will let you know when I get it.
But from what I have read, it seems more smoother and better in the tracking department, especially if there is light in the room(this has always been a problem when there is to much light; it confuses the TrackIR system and one can lose tracking or make it less smooth.

Here is a thread I started a while back regarding TracKIR1 at SimHQ with some good advice/tips thrown by the other users that will help with the learning curve:

Resellers probably receive a bulk discount for ordering their in bulk. That is why you can get the TrackIR for cheaper prices than from NP, as NP's price is retail.

Because of this, I doubt they receive the same deal on the free hat as a retail order from NP does.

That is more than likely why they do not give the free promotion.

How else could the sell the TrackIR cheaper?

Just been told (as I got into bed for my early Sunday shift...) by my wife that : "Oh yes, your TrackIR came today, the box is down the side of the bed..."

Does make sense what you say Charlie.
But remember that here in UK, paying through the nostrils for everything and then getting it for a little less, is just a way of life...
