Hi all.
I have been using the tIR device "in reverse" to minimize position error and thougt I share the experience with you.
One problem with the tIR is that if you move your head sideways (still looking in the same direction) it gets detected as a twist of your head.
To minimize this effect I have mounted the tIR device on my head and put a reflector far behind the monitor (1.8 m - 6 ft).
Try it yourself and you will notice the difference. Use one of the big reflectors and also invert the Y axis.
The farther away you put the reflector the more you can move your head sideways without generating a false respons.
The only drawback is that you can get a false dot from the IR light reflected in your monitor but the software filters this out in most cases.

I just got TrackIR 2 and that sounded interesting. How did you do to mount it? I don�t want it to fall down and break on me

Now that is a pretty nifty looking picture.
Ill have to admit that I wouldnt have thought of that. Talk about thinking out of the box.

I thought about this idea a while ago.
Was thinking along the lines of getting a real pilot's helmet, installing compatible audio, the TrackIR unit and maybe even eDimensional 3D glasses LCD panels on one of the visors.
Anyway. I thought about it and figured that with the dot on your head, a movement is seen as a distance change of only a few inches. However, if you move the unit itself and fix the dot then the movement of your head (and the unit) will make the movement seen much bigger.
Figured it may not work so well.
But, if it works, it works!
PS Anyone know if you can get the LCD panels as used in the shutter glasses in bigger panels?
