Motion and Track Problems, Please Help

Post by JiveOn »

I just recieved my TrackIR2 unit yesterday and am having some difficulty getting things to work properly. Specifically the unit will not track to the left very well at all, its as if it hits a wall and cannot move any further. After investigating the issue I have noticed a peculiarity. The green dot in the Tracking portion of the interface tracks just fine, very smooth and I get near perfect track through all four corners of the screen (Also I have no light interference, the only thing that pops up as small white dots are the reflections off my glasses when I look up, they are properly filtered and alway stay white). However when I then go to the Motion portion of the screen the dot will move only in the right 2/3's or so of the screen. The left hand portion simply gets no action.

The discrepancy which I mentioned in the subject is that the center point in Tracking does not line up at all with the center point in Motion. In fact they are quite far off. If I center the yellow dot in Motion, and while holding my head quite still click over to Tracking, the green dot is in the lower right corner of the screen, making almost any motion of my head to the left, or down for that matter, hit the edge of the screen. This is clearly why I am having my problems, however I have no idea how to solve them.

Is there a way to calibrate the interface such that the center point of Motion matches the center point of Tracking? That seems simple enough however I see no way of doing that.

I am using the TrackIR2, a baseball hat with a small rounded object affixed to the brim with a large square stuck on it, I sit approx. 20 inches from my monitor upon which the TrackIR2 is set. The brim of my cap and the cold black eye of the unit are lined up as near to exact as I can manage.

Any help from Jim or the community at large would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Same exact thing is happening to me...! No backround interference, I am close enough to the PC, F12 makes no difference. Its like an invisible wall on the left side of the tracking grid. Though the motion screen it tracks smooth as butter. Unfortunately I hit that same wall in game and cant look out my left window. I am getting ready to throw this thing out the window.
