TrackIR2 hardware problem

Post by Dirk98 »

Hello guys,

I need help with a new TrackIR2 unit. The tracking field in this unit is obvioulsy narrower than the other 2 units of TrackIR2 and 1 old TrackIR(1) unit that I have with me for comparison.

I checked this unit in the tracking screen without profile, just pure signal, and then compared to the others I had by connecting them to my PC's USB one after another and mounting in the same place on the monitor. Obviously the field of tracking the dot in my problematic TrackIR2 is narrower. I noticed all the recommendations on the distance, settings etc., but I have a pure test situation here with all these TrackIR units that I just swap in the usb. And only one of them seems to be limited (even in comparisson with TrackIR1 old unit). It picks up signal from distance ok though, but in normal position it has a narrower field of reception compared to the rest.

What can be done on my own risck to try to adjust it inside? Is there such an adjustment knob or a screw [to screw ] inside of it? For example, there's a bore for some purpose on the left side...

I don't want to throw it out, shame it's a new unit from the box, neither send it for repair (easier to buy a new one). I can't comfortably fly with it in my sims, I feel limited in my head movement comparing to the other ones that I tried. And as I said it's still new from the box, just bad luck...

I would gladly risk openning it up and trying to adjust it if anyone could give me leads on what can be tried out with it.

Thanks.

Nubelius: Negativity solves nothing. Please stow it.

Dirk: I do not beleive there to be any internal settings to increase the FOV of the unit. It sounds as though the new one you have has an issue with the imager which is degrading its performance.

If you do not want to send it in for repair / replacement, then I suggest you give Wayne a call and see if there is a 'last ditch effort' to fix it.

nubelius,

I have been monitoring your posts here on the forum.
The fact that you chose to smash your unit without waiting for help is your choice.

However we work very hard in the forum and I personally go out of my way to even answer user's post when I am not even in work. I spend many hours researching problems that users have even though they are not always directly related to TrackIR.

If you dont have anything positive to say, then please do everyone else a favor and dont be so negative.

If you wish to be apart of this forum then be a PART OF IT.

As the saying goes "Be apart of the solution and not a part of the problem".

Dirk98,

I could be wrong, but I think that you have e-mailed me.

There are no adjustments that you can alter yourself.
If you have not already done so, please e-mail me, and I can advise you further.
