new hat doesn't work

Post by honda346 »

I just got my new NP hat from you all. I've unchecked the aspect ratio filter button as the instructions talked about (although the instructions say it is in the upper right corner and it isn't in my software). However you can see it is still filtering out the hat reflector most of the time. It want's to put the "red" box around it 50% of the time which makes the tracking skip around and such. Any suggestions? Should I adjust the filter settings in another way? I'm using the 2.01 software version. Regards

too far from sensor.

Try had other reflectors or use a cap or hat to have it much closer to sensor

Honda-
try playing with the height and width filters. I currently have them at H=7 and W=24.

Well I've messed around with the filters a bunch and you certainly can improve the results adjusting those ranges. The only thing is that no matter how I tweak them, there are always areas that I get a "pause", and sometimes it just looks like there are spots on the hat "reflective dot" that reflect differently than the rest of it causing the software to filter out some parts while keeping others.

Hard to completely explain but I still get much better results with the old dots so for now I'll be covering the new hat up with old dots... lol.

honda, that's right! Made the same experience with the f... hat. It's too expensive and doesn't work at all. Hope trackIR reads this! Normal baseballcap and one dot in front works. Should have spent my money otherwise...

Guys:

I am very worried about the trackHAT not working for you, as I think the hat rocks. It really should enhance the tracking experience.

Could you please post screen shots of the Data View so we can see what type of tracking image the camera is getting? Also, please post the distance you are from the unit at that time, as that will make a big difference.

Overall, don't worry if there isn't a clear green box around the yellow object that represents the dot, it can have small red boxes in and around it. The software just isn't merging the objects well, but that shouldn't effect the tracking.

I have been playing around with hats from our inventory and I don't see a tracking problem right off, so I would really like to get to the bottom of this.

Sorry for them being expensive, $20. I think that it is a good value for how much they cost us to make, as the hats have a very custom brim with 3M material in the front and back, not cheap to do.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

sorry, Jim, Sreenshots not possible, as I got no Web-Space. Data view seems normal to me. Always green boxes. Distance from Sender is 55 cm, same distance as with a normal baseballcap and one (!) dot on top of the brim. That works fine for me.

I dont' worry about the green box! What counts is that your hat doesn't work as smooth as one simple round dot on my hat.

Unfortunately the manual is not clear enough in that point (and others too). No user I know has understood how the filters work an especially how the Hight Filter and Width Filter have to be set correctly (first point/ second point)...

The 3M material on the back is of no use as I didn't get any satisfactory function with track-IR when the dot/ 3M is close to my head. Baseballcap however (i.e. dot few cm in front of head: function really good!)

I would appreciate to buy a gadget some guys constructed with a kind of small ball in font of the brim of the cap. Only positive things have been reported...

Kind regards

Reinhard
