Upgrade to IRIII form IRII...
Upgrade to IRIII form IRII...
Will NaturalPoint be offering an upgrade for TrackIRII owners
Seems like I just got my IRII & already there is a new one out.
Wish I had waited a little longer.

Yes! I bought it at Novemeber and it seems yesterday that I received the TIR2.
Many people is waiting a good offer to study the change to TIR3Pro.
Two new TIRs too Soon, normally people needs a time to recover & and justify its gaming economy...

Re: Upgrade to IRIII form IRII...
Seems like the Windows 95 / 98 thing where Win 98 was the program that 95 should have been.
I don't understand why a company that had a product (IRI) for some time, would bring out a replacement product (IRII) & quickly replace it just a few months later with a newer (and better) model. It seems like the engineering that went into IRII was wasted effort, especially if they knew of a better processor that would be used very soon.
This leads to the question… is there an IRIV in the works already
I’m all for new technology, but the customer needs to know that a purchase that they make will at least be current for one year… at least before it is obsoleted.
Even computers stay current for that long & they have a long history of very quick obsoletion.
This whole thing makes me a little “gun shy”.

Re: Upgrade to IRIII form IRII...
I have no problem with all that except how about a break on the price for current customers of IRII
I would like to update to IRIII Pro but feel the price is too much in light of the fact that we just got our IRII's.
--- OR ---
How about a one time trade in special for IRII users

Re: Upgrade to IRIII form IRII...
I agree. I would love to go to III even though II seems to work well.
I would like to see two things, break for current owners and the other I may have to research on my own, but also hear from others.
HOW MUCH BETTER IS II vs III in real world? Has anyone gone from one to the other yet?

Re: Upgrade to IRIII form IRII...
Hello everyone.
Please understand that it was not our intention to actually come out with TrackIR3 so soon. This was forced on us because one of the key pieces that make up the TrackIR units was upgraded and we no longer had access to the original.
This upgraded piece we were forced to go to, had so many advantages that we had to make use of them and hence the TrackIR3 was born.
It's would be like Ford with the current version of the Mustang and all of a sudden the engine manufacturer saying that the 302 is no longer available and so we're giving you 351 Clevelands instead.
What do you do in the middle of your production year? You come out with a new model. Ever here of the 1964 1/2 model?

Thanks for the update
Re: Upgrade to IRIII form IRII...
I know this is not software, but a lot of software companies provide a free update (know this will not happen with hardware) when the user buys a product shortly before a replacement comes out.
I have seen hardware companies provide a break in price for similar situations.
It just goes to make great customer satisfaction & enhances the reputation of a company.

Re: Upgrade to IRIII form IRII...
We will be doing a full review on the TrackIR3 as soon as it is received (tomorrow hopefully). Should have it online within a week or two. We plan on focusing the review on the difference between the TrackIR2 and the TrackIR3.
As for the rest, sorry, it happens. Technology is quick. Would AMD give you a break if you bought a chip a few months ago and then today they released a chip a half a Ghz faster? No. That happened to me after I bought my Athalon XP 1800. Look, its just tough luck.
Enjoy your TIR2 or upgrade and enjoy your TIR3. There are no free handouts.
DISCLAIMER
I speak my own opinion, not that of Natural Point. I do not work for them.
