Teething Problems

Post by poyungan »

Salute!
I am very impressed with the TrackIR 3 Pro. Reading the forums has helped shorten the learning curve considerably.

In IL-2 FB I have two problems.

On my Cougar I have the HAT 3 down programmed with the F2 and F8 views toggled. This give a switch between external view and external chase.

If I hit H3 down it will give me a chase view in the normal position, but the external view automatically gives me a view looking from my left wing towards the cockpit instead of from behind.

The other problem is using this button often causes the TrackIR Enhanced view to crash.
This transports me to a box on my desktop asking me if I want to send a report to microsoft or not.

IL-2 is reduced to the task bar when this happens. If I restart TrackIR and go back into IL-2 i can use mouse emulation , but Enhanced view will not work. I need to restart IL-2 to get it to work.

I have downloaded the latest version.

Any suggestions?
TIA

Wayne,
It is a Microsoft box which says something like;
"NaturalPoint has encountered an error and will have to close."
It gives you the option of sending an auomatic report or not to MS. This is a feature of WinXP Home and often comes up following a minor crash.
I have sent a couple, though what good it will do I do not know.
I have solved one problem. In IL-2 the F8 key is assigned a view and this view I have assigned to the HAT switch. F8 is also the TrackIR default button to toggle Motion and there is one conflict. I just assigned it to a different button.
Just as an aside, it would be of great help if it were possible to assign keys with the shift and alt keys. It would increase the programability and make it easier in complex sims.

The problem with the crashing on using this HAT switch continues. I guess you wonder if there is a problem with the Cougar but it works just fine in Battle of Britain, so I suspect it is an IL-2 problem.

Another problem is that on starting IL-2 it reverts to the IL_2 profile and not my custom one. So I need to start NaturalPoint, then start IL-2, then exit back to NaturalPoint and load my custom profile. So IL-2 seems to automatically change it. Is there a way around this?

I will email you the report.
