I just bought a TIR 3 PRO, and I dont seem to be able to use the enhanced mode when I play IL2 Forgotten battles.
I can only get the TIR to work in non enhanced mode. When I press F8 within the game to try to enable to enhanced mode, the tracking just stops.
I cant figure out what is wrong, since I have read the manual very carefully. So this is starting to frustrate me.
Can someone please help me?

Do you start the Naturalpoint software BEFORE running the flight sim?
You must do it that way round, trackIR then FB.
Otherwise you get the exact error you mention, no enhanced mode.

Yes I start the software first. I also noticed that sometimes the software gets an error and shuts down.
I have reinstalled the software a couple of times, but still no enhanced mode.

Did you set the trackIRUse=1 line in the conf.ini file ?

It sounds like you may be having USB conflicts if the software keeps getting errors so try using another port to plug into. Also make sure you do this when starting a game:
1. Start TIR software - Make sure that it says F8 TIR Enhanced in the bottom right corner. If not press F8 until it does.
2. Start FB - For now just do a QMB with no enemies.
3. As soon as you are in the cockpit look directly at the centre of your monitor and press F12 (to set your center).
You should be good to go from there. You may also want to make sure that your dot is in the center of the screen when looking directly at your monitor in the Motion tab of the software. Make sure the dot stays green throughout your entire range of head movement.

Tried the 3 steps like you told me Charvel, but still no enhanced mode. The USB ports seem to be working fine though.
About the config.ini file...should I add the whole line "trackIRUse=1" in the config file of IL2FB?
(hmm, wonder what is wrong with this TIR3 thing, Its bugging the h*** out of me not being able to use it properly yet)

JMA, although your USB might work fine for the most part it is still likely the source of your problems barring a messed up install.
I've had it happen that plugging in a new USB device on a separate port managed to reassign control ID's causing similar problems.
Don't plug the TIR into a USB hub, try to give it it's own plug. But start with a fresh install and be sure to read the installations very carefully as it won't work if you try installing the software while it's plugged in and such.
I would suggest a complete uninstall and delete the NaturalPoint registry keys, reboot and install the software. Really you shouldn't have to edit the conf.ini file of FB but if it's just the game that isn't working with your TIR then do a re-install there as well (maybe make a copy of your old install just in case there are settings or skins you want to keep). If you just want to edit the conf.ini you don't need to add that line just change the value in that line (already should be in there as "trackIRUse=x") to the value 1 if it isn't already.

If TrackIR is working and it does look as if everything is okay, the problem may be with IL2.
I know that you have re-installed the TrackIR software, if you are still unable to work in Enhanced mode I would look at re-installing IL2 and the patches.
Please let me know if you are still having problems after thr re-install, I do think that this will resolve the problem.
