Tracked Pixel Area Bouncing Around

Post by Outlaw »

My TrackIR3 has been working perfectly for several months until this evening. The view bounces badly because portions of the dot keep disappearing from the camera's view. The pixel area swings from as low as 10 to as high as 80. This moves the CG of the tracked area enough to bounce the view. Switching to the large dot had no effect. When the dot is in any corner of the camera's view it does not drop pixels and tracks smoothly.

On the tracking screen large portions of the normally solid green dot randomly disappear completely or only show up as white or red. This occurs at any range over a few inches.

I used my camcorder to check the LEDs and all are illuminating. Turning off the lights in the room had no effect.

Nothing has changed in the room since it was working perfectly 2 nights ago.

Thanks in advance for any help y'all can provide.

Hello:

Sounds like something has broken, perhaps the lens came loose or the camera chip has a problem. Please contact support@naturalpoint.com for a RMA.

I shut down my machine for the evening and the next morning the TrackIR worked fine. Amazingly enough, out of the blue last night on the Warclouds server someone mentioned that their TrackIR got twitchy if the PC was left on for a long time (a matter of days). That is exactly what I did and it's probably the first time I've ever done that on that machine since I got the TrackIR.

Just FYI, on my unit, there is a blue LED illuminating at all times, even when the software is not loaded. That LED was NOT on when it was being naughty. I'm pretty sure of this.
