Headtracker DOES NOT WORK

Post by rhyokin »

hey i just got my Trackir today and i must say i was very much looking foward to it, but when i tried to install it something happened. I did everthing the manual said, first off installed hardware, then downloaded the latest update, then pluged in the Head Tracker. When the thing came up that was going to install the new drivers for the Trackir for me, it would go to 36%, my computer freezes twice, then it says system error - windows can not read the C drive... now i did a scan disk and everything, tried again and it said it again! Please can someone help me out with this i really like this and want to use it, my brother has one and everything worked perfect with his and he installed it in 30 seconds, ive been working for two hours and still have nothing i want yet. Please Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

New update, thats my older post. I think it might have something to do with the actually head tracker, like maybe some of the drivers in the actual device are screwed up or something... PLEASE HELP ME THIS TIME

You'll probably want to give them your video card and manufacturer, your sound card, and the drivers you are using for both. You can go to the "Run" selection on the "Start Menu" and type in DXDIAG. That will give you all of the information if you don't already know it. Also, the "System Information" (Under the Start Menu:Programs:Accessories:System Tools) can display some information for you as well.

i actually got it all working today, from a teachnical support guy in the phone, but im disapointed with it and i might return it because i got it mainly for FPS's and it to hard to use with them becuase if you wanna go left you have to keep your head facing left and its tricky to try to make that centered while playing and having enemies blast you in the face

Hello:

Glad you got it working today! That is a bit of a relief, what did Donald suggest? I guess I could go down the hall and ask him.

You will want to use the AutoPan feature for playing FPS games, it allows you to turn around easily, just by entering the AutoPan zone, that should help a lot. Also, turn down the Smoothing and turn up the Speed.

I would be happy to provide more pointers for FPS games. Generally, users like it who play more tactical FPS games, like CounterStrike, not Quake and such.

I'm experiencing the same issue here. What email should I post my DXDiag to?
