I recently opened up my eyes for fly sims. Allways played them back in 97 up to now. I wanna take the full step with hotas cougar and force mod and a trackir device with expansion.
My Question is, do i need the xtra frame boost that pro ships compared to normal trackir3. and if its really a big boost should i wait for the next product (trackir4)? Will there be a new product or is this at its best glance?
I just wanna know if it's worth the money today (in case they make a new product).
future trackir?
Re: future trackir?
Believe me, I've owned each version of TIR and much like buying a cpu or video card the more positive impact on your framerate, the better experience you'll have. The difference here is that the TIR3pro is well worth the extra cost.
Getting the vector expansion is like doubling your immersion value even if you don't play any 6DOF enhanced games. The new algorithm using the 3 dot system adds considerably to precision and responsiveness.
Ideally you would be able to try all incarnations for a couple weeks but I will save you the time and expense by recommending TIR3pro + vector now. It really is worth the few extra bucks.
This is coming from a guy who does not just throw money at the computer. I refuse to spend $600 cdn on a video card that will get ~20% better frames than a $250 one. I like to get bang-for-buck value in my purchases and TIR3pro+vector is well within that determination for me.
Also, if you wait for the next version (TIR5) you might be waiting for a while.
This is just my opinion and I think you will be happy either way but IMHO with the benefit of hindsight it makes sense to go the extra mile.

Re: future trackir?
My thought also, but its like this. Im sitting with a p4 1.7 ghz and geforce 4 4800 (aka 4400)
have 768 sdram., so im not getting the full maximized graphics when i play and it will take me like maybe a top of 6 months before i buy a new system with new card and all.. will the tir3pro still be worth it? or is the next version waiting around the corner? and if it is. how much better will it be? any info on next comming product?

Re: future trackir?
As a beta tester for NP I can tell you that I'm not aware of anything coming down the pipe yet so it's tough to say. Even still, it's hard to see how much improvement can be done with 2D so I don't think you'll be losing out by getting yours sooner rather than later.
Just my opinion, best of luck whichever you decide.
