Somewhere I read Tir3 is usable with these and you could peer round corners etc, or be looking in different directions whilst pointing weapons straight ahead, for example, but I've just re-installed Far Cry to test it and nothing works, head movement-wise. The game functions fine but it's as though I'd switched Tir3 off.
Does Tir3 only work with flight or racing sims? If not, how would you activate it within shooter-type games?
1st Person shooters?
Re: 1st Person shooters?
Are you referring to using a program called Track Mapper? So you can bind keys to lean left or right? I think thats what your referring to.
You could use this pretty much in any game.

Re: 1st Person shooters?
Don't think so. This was a bloke saying he used TIR3 Pro in a shooter and by leaning left or right in his seat, the on-screen effect was simulated there. This wasn't allocating keys to do it, just simple head or body leaning movement and he could peer round an obstacle.
Similarly he could move his head to look left or right trying to spot danger whilst keeping his gun lined up on an enemy sentry, for example.
I noticed one of the dowloadable profiles here seems to be for HalfLife 2, unless I'm misunderstanding its name (Barred_HL_2Mod), which made me assume this was a TIR3 profile for the game.

Re: 1st Person shooters?
Hello choxaway,
Can you point me to where that downloadable profile is linked?
- We have been working on a "technology demonstration" for Half-Life2 that works exactly as you describe, but haven't yet decided the best use for it. It will probably show up in our developer section soon, at the very least.
- World War II Online kind of supports TrackIR in FPS mode as you describe. It's only 2DOF, but lets you look away from where the gun&body are pointed.
- There is some public discussion of how to best use TrackIR in FPS games down in our "general games" section, if you'd like to know more.
Did you hear about it on our forums? or is there some buzz elsewhere on the net? I'd love to know more!

Re: 1st Person shooters?
Well I was convinced I downloaded all the profiles from this site but having looked at the 'Share Profiles' section it doesn't appear to be there. I haven't visited any sites other then the UK RC Simulations one and I don't see it there either so now I'm totally perplexed!

Re: 1st Person shooters?
Oh it's all good, I have barred's profile.
I was just curious if you heard about it here in our forum or out there on the net somewhere.
Any buzz for TrackIR is good buzz. I just like to keep track of it.

Re: 1st Person shooters?
Hi,
I was trying to use the TIR in Battlefield 1942... I also read about using the TIR in 1st person shooters so I figured I could use it in Battlefield 1942, since it uses the mouse to look... How do I get the game to see it as a mouse?
Regards, Basnoff

Re: 1st Person shooters?
To use TIR in mouse mode in BF2 you will need to do 2 things.
Run the mouse emulator software (it is not built into the main software), it is found in the TIR install folder.
To activate mouse look in BF2 you need to hold a button down. The disadvantage say in a chopper is that the choppers controls are disabled.
