IL2FB slight blurring when moving head
IL2FB slight blurring when moving head
Just bought Trackir3 & Vector expansion, which I'm pleased with so far, but I've noticed when panning around that the cockpit screen frames tend to blur a bit as I pan past them. They very slightly break up or distort, giving me a bit of a headache, and I wonder if there's a way to prevent this occurring.
(My specs are AMD2.8, 1gb DDR, VisionMaster Pro 413 17"Aperture Grill monitor, Audigy 2)
Being new to this, I realise there are many profile changes that can be fiddled with but I don't want to experiment too randomly without really yet knowing what I'm doing.
I'm running IL2FBAEP in Perfect mode with all latest patches/updates etc.
Any help would be welcome.

Re: IL2FB slight blurring when moving head
Does this same issue occur when using the simple mouse to pan around instead of using the TrackIR?
Re: IL2FB slight blurring when moving head
Hi Rick,
I should have checked this first, of course!
Yes, in fact it's worse with TiR switched off and using the mouse - I'd simply not noticed it previously having rarely used the mouse for looking around.
The effect is rather akin to having a bit of a hangover, whereby the eyes struggle to keep up with the head movement - I'm sure a few out there can relate to the experience . . .
Any idea what causes this visual latency?

Re: IL2FB slight blurring when moving head
Sounds like you have V-Sync turned off on your video card. This causes "tearing", as a new frame cannot be drawn at the same speed you are panning your view. That's my very simple explanation.
Re: IL2FB slight blurring when moving head
V-Sync isn't turned off - that's one of the things I did check, having read threads elsewhere describing the tearing problems in the past.
The new BoBWoV game arrives in a couple of days and I'll try that first to see if the same effect happens. If it doesn't, the answer may reside within IL2.

Re: IL2FB slight blurring when moving head
Is V-Sync forced "on" or is it on per IL-2?
Re: IL2FB slight blurring when moving head
It's 'Always On' in the 9800 Pro properties panel under 3D OpenGL Current Settings list.
Can't see where to switch it on or off within IL2 or in the desktop IL2 Setup Panel.

Re: IL2FB slight blurring when moving head
Rgr that, I wasn't sure if IL-2 was one of those games that turns it on unless you force it off. Sorry man, no other ideas here.
Re: IL2FB slight blurring when moving head
Some times it is best to have Use Vsync as 'application controled' in the drivers panel and then to set the Vsync as on in the game.
There are times when the driver forcing something like vsync or FSAA can have strange effects ingame.

Using a mouse your head seldom move around.
You need to move your head for TIR,
I mean your eye move together with the a moving screen.
Focusing moving object may subject to headache in certain people.
I'm not sure if you need a pair of glasses.
Lastly make sure your monitor resolution refresh rate >75Hz best is =>100Hz but depends on game support.
