hello everyone
i just got around to using my trackir3pro after having it since christmas. i had good results with wings over vietnam/strike fighters using the square on the track it cap. however, wearing the cap gives me a headache, so i placed 4 squares on a headset mic i use for wingman commands/multiplayer comms. 1 on the mic boom, 1 on the top of the headband, and 1 on each side of the headset. i am now having awful results, with inexplicable problems (as i type this i have mirror view up and my in-game head is completely upside down.) the pitch seems to drop in and out, and yaw sometimes cartwheels back and forth, gets stuck in one spot, and has lost its smoothness and reliability. i have the latest version of the software installed, and can think of no reasons why it should do this.
i have smooth as my acceleartion, and have the default settings for these sims enabled. it does say tracking:dot when i have the squares pasted to my headset.
i do notcie in tracking view that even though i am sitting at the middle of my desk with the trackir unit atop my crt monitor staring down at me, that my headset, with its three refelective squares, and the mic boom, often times out of view entirely at the bottom of the screen, are quite a ways over to the right of the screen. should i assume that i want my head to be in the middle of this screen, with my mic not coming in and out of the picture?

Re: a few new user questions
Hi Pepperg, from what I understand from your post you have 4 dots pn the go at the same time. If so I would remove 3 of them, just keep the one on the hat or the mic boom, but keep in mind that the dot must be seen by the camera at all times.
The only time that 3 dots are used is if you are using the Vector and then the dot placement is very specific.
Good luck.

NP let me know how you get on
Re: a few new user questions
thanks-- i thought 4 dots would help ensure it would always track, but i can see how i might confuse it instead
