Sensitivity Enhancement Request

Post by fever »

First I'd like to thank all at NaturalPoint for developing such a great piece of hardware in TrackIR. I had TrackIR 2 for a year and just recently purchased TrackIR 3 Pro with Vector Support. I'm definitely one satisfied customer!

I would like to help make this great product even better by offering a suggestion that would improve the Vector support usage in simulations that take advantage of the Z axis for zooming (ie Lockon).

When zooming in the view by leaning forward and looking at small details (instrument text, targets) the pitch and yaw sensitivity should be reduced so you don't have to be overly still to keep focus on your view object. If a sensitivity slider could be added to the control software for pitch and yaw that was driven by the position of another axis (Z for example) I think you could make this software/hardware perfect, complete immersion without a thought to the hardware strapped to your head.

If this capability is already in the software and I have overlooked it I apologize. Note that I am not referring to "Precision" mode, I'm looking for something that varies with zoom level and don't want to hit a key to activate a desensitizing mode (it should all be seemless and automatic).

Regards,
Mike

One thing you can do is rais or lower the entire curve for the required axis. So as you want to reduce the amount of movement ingame when you look forwards (lean in) then what you can do is lower the entire Z curve in the required profile, but do not copt to other axis. The would keep the sensitivity of all the other axis except the Z which is the lean forward.

I hope that is of some help.

Barred, thanks for the reply but I don't think what you are suggesting will help. I want the sensitivity of the pitch and yaw to vary depending on were the TrackIR Z axis is (lean). I do not want to vary the sensitivity of the Z axis itself, it works fine.

Example:
Lean in - pitch and yaw sensitivity smoothly change to a low setting.

Lean back - pitch and yaw sensitivity smoothly change to normal setting.

This makes sense. I will see about this being either a setting or implemented in.
