difference TIR1 to TIR 3 or TIR4

Post by darth_fazer »

hi there!
i have a TIR 1 and it works quite fine, so what it the difference between the newer 3 or even 4 models.
except the vector expansion and the wider FOV?

i mean does the higher resolution or "frame rate" bring significant advantages?
what'S the fps for the TIR 1 model?

i mostly use the TIR device for flying IL-2 or PF, so the vector expansion would be no use for me (i guess?).
but if BoB from maddox games comes out i guess i need an TIR upgrade :-)

has anybody first hand experience in usinf TIR 1 and 3 or 3 pro?

cheers

Fazer the difference between TIR1 and 3/4 is like night and day. I have had 1&2 and now run 4.

Gone are the days of turning your monitor into a Darlek with the limited range of the original camera. The range has increased from the original 11" up to 36". For me it is worth it just for that and the rest is a bonus. The later TIR's do not lose track as often as TIR1 so gone are the days of constant re-centering because your dot has gone out of range yet again. With the the extra range you can turn your head more , so less stiff necks.

The faster FPS anf higher resolution of the camera smooths out the panning and gives greater precision when tracking. Since TIR4 especially I have not used a 'dead zone' because if I look ahead (through sights ect) I do not have any judder because the camera is not updating fast enough or I am right on the edge of its reslution block to the next. Think of using a high precision mouse and a 640 resolution screen, it is possible for a very slight movement of the mouse (head) for the curser (view) to jump because of the low screen (camera) resolution.

Finally there is the Vector (which is the default with TIR4) . At first thought it would seem to be useless for non Vector games (IL2 ect), but when I was using TIR1 the reaxed panning used to drive me to distraction. There was noting worse than leaning left slightly but looking ahead and then thingame view goes and looks over the left wing, which was not what I wanted. Even though the game does not use the 6DoF it does take the info from the camera, and the camera does use the 6DoF so the left/right up/down signal is cleaner eliminating any noise (lean ect).

Between TIR3 and 4 the difference is worth it. If you are using a TFT then the clip for 4 works very well, it is not possible to get the clip for TIR3. The same goes for the extra FPS and FOV that goes from TIR1 to TIR3. Now I am using linear profiles and no dead zonewith TIR4 that was not as comfortable with TIR3 for extended periods.

If I was looking to make the jump from TIR1 to TIR3 or 4 I would recomend TIR4 if you have the oppertunity to do so.

:S!
