Weird conflict between TrackIR and sim

Post by FrenchToast »

I recently started using a third-party software titled Touch-Buddy that enables the use of a touchscreen to send commands to flight sims and other applications. You can get more info here : Touch-Buddy Forums . The software sends key commands to the application like any other programmable peripheral, such as my CH joystick.

My problem is this : In the sim Strike Fighters, I can use TrackIR without any problem. I can also use Touch-Buddy by itself without any problem. HOWEVER, when I try to use Touch-Buddy while TrackIR is active, then somehow no command sent by Touch-Buddy is "seen" by the sim.

It is as if the TrackIR software "traps" the keysends from TB and does not pass them along to the sim. This seems weird because of course TrackIR does not stop any of my other controllers from sendind keys to the sim.

I did uncheck the "Trap" option for all keys in my TrackIR profile, but without result.

Do you have any idea what is happening here? Touch-Buddy is such a great app for flight sims, if I had to choose between it and my TrackIR I would probably shoot myself !

Thanks in advance.

Edit : I am using a TrackIR 3 with software version 4.1 Build 28.

OK I did some more experimenting about this.

In the sim I enabled mouselook, then instead of just launching TrackIR normally I used the Mouse Emulation software bundled with TIR for use in games without built-in TIR support.

Well, in that situation Touch-Buddy works fine while my TrackIR is active.

I am assuming that when I use the TrackIR with Mouse Emulation it is not in its Enhanced mode. So for some reason, TIR in enhanced mode prevents Touch-Buddy from communicating with the sim. Very weird.
