Re-Centering TrackIR

Post by bustr »

How often should I have to re-center the forward view? If I am in a furball and have been holding back side or up quarter views for a while, or having to cycle through them extensivly, I find that the original center becomes off or not re-acquirable. Then I have to hit the centering switch.

This only happens if I'm performing manuvers that move the forward view through many changes of orientation. Flying level, climbing out on a Zoom, making a turn through a big arce do not affect it.

To assist myself in re-centering I have taped markers on my monitors borders at the center of each border like cross hairs. Helps alot to re-orient my head and shoulders . I never realised how much I move my body to orient to the false level on the screen.

I've been re-centering fairly often. Usually just before take-off, and then, like you, right after a furball, when I notice that my six-views are not as easy as they were before the furball. One side will be good, the other bad. I don't mind having to re-center.

heh! I've been recnetering every 60-120 seconds when there's an enemy around. Can't do it while yankin and bankin of course but I need to recenter alot. I'm 99.9% sure it is because I use a lot of "body english" when I fly. In fact I never realised how much, LOL.
