Hi Chaps,
just ordered the whole thing, gadgets and all - previous owner of TIR 1 and and 2 - just because the thing - and the gang behind it - has given great service.
Now tell me about PF: Can it be done without the developer or not- the 6dof thing.
And how to convince certain quarters for their own good ? If the developer is needed.
Cheers

Re: VE and the PF business
Hey Snip.
This is a hard topic because it may be seen that people are pointing fingers or laying blame on one side or the other. That is not the intention here at all. Lets see if I can lay it down pretty good.
There is a right way and a wrong way to do everything. The right way would consist of 1C:Maddox making a quick change in their code to enable 6DOF to work. Since they have direct control of the program... they got the source!.... it wouldnt be all that hard.
The wrong way is for NP to spend a huge amount of time hacking the view system on their end and forcing 6DOF to work. As with any type of brute forcing something to work, it is not near as prefered as having it done the right way.
NP respects 1C:Maddox and their decision. There are no plans at this time to hack the view to make 6DOF work. The proper way for this to be done is to hope that Oleg will change his mind and impliment the features.
Do not think I am saying Oleg made a bad call. Lucky for us, he only wants the best on the market. Because of the problems that might arise in the graphics from 6DOF, he doesnt want that to happen.
Time will tell on what is going to happen.

Hello:
We can "help" some programs that are coded using modern methods and tools, hence MSFS2004 and CFS3. IL-2 needs direct progam support from the developer.
Hopefully in time, and after the IL-2 team has had a chance to test out Vector, they will see what can be done.

Re: VE and the PF business
That sounds great Jim.
I think thats all anyone could hope for.
After going through most of the forums, it looks like the majority of the guys would like Naturalpoint to look into just that possibility.
If a limited throw on some of the new axis's would keep the cockpit model looking good that should be enough see around braces etc. and add greatly to the immersion of the sim.
I'm not a computer wiz,,, but you guys (or Oleg?) fixed the linda Blair view just that same way. Put a limit on an axis???Could that not be done on some (or all?) of the new axis in Vector?
Certainly the zoom is already there with no clipping and some sideways motion ie. going to gunsight view in the German planes.
I was a Trackir user since before Il-2 went to enhanced mode. I think its the best thing since the joystick!
Pacific Fighters is a great sim and will be around even after BoB is released . If not just for the guys with lower end computers.
Having the best (6DOF) trackir support would be great.
I'm hoping you guys keep up the good work you have been doing so far and maybe get some limited support from Oleg to make this happen.
Thank you
