Can't figure out Multiple Axis for PF/LO

Post by Platypus65 »

Wow. This soungs great but so far I can't figure it out. I first installed TIR2Joy and PP JOY (and configured my Virtual joystick per the instructions). I also installed Control MX but now what. TIR2Joy recognizes my X and Y axis. Is there somewhere I can go to get help. I am really excited about getting this to work.

Once you have PPJOY and TIR2JOY installed, install a key mapper and map the keys you want to the axis. Make sure TrackIR v4 software is running before you start TIR2JOY. You should see NO DATA until you are running a TrackIR enhanced game.

Also make sure your keymapper is set to watch the virtual joystick you created.

im totally baffled by PPJOY. are we supposed to not bother with setting 'mapping' for our 'VirtualJoystick' ?

no matter what, the trackIR software always registers the tir2joy device as an enhanced game every time i boot it. but the tir2joy window reflects good data returns.

is it the idea that we are only mapping the Z-tracking data and axis to a new joystick, but rest of our YAW and PITCH control will still be run normall in its enhanced mode in-game? we are just then mapping the axis to the zoom in/out buttons after that.

the documentation and explaination by those who have left some info about this amounts to little more than a forum post's worth of link information displayed as a website article. im a programmer and still totally confused.

can anyone take us a bit more down the step by step of the setup process? its most likely the same for all of us, roughly.

None of this is supported so you are not really going to get much official documentation due to concerns about liability.

Once you configure a virtual joystick and add it, your computer will install all the needed stuff for it. Do not do anything else. Do not change any of the mapping settings.

Then run TIR2JOY.

Then run your keymapper utillity. If you are using Joy2Key, go into others tab and set the number of joysticks to one more than the amount of joysticks physically plugged into your system. It was 3 for me. The last joystick is your virtual joystick. Also make sure you got the Axis configure box checked in the others tab. Then you can set the axis to push whatever buttons you want.

Still struggling but determined. I am still confused about what they mean about editing the Tir2Joy.ini Do I need to mess with this since I will only be using it for Lock On and Pacific Fighters? Also, on the Control MX do I map the Z axis? For example, in PF I want to lean forward and have the gunsight view and when I lean back I want to have normal zoom. Would I map Control MK as follows: Z axis+ = VK_Delete; Z axis- = VK_End). Thanks for you help!
