3.01 killed my TIR1 !

Post by Schallmoser »

Dear support team and everybody reading this thread,

I'm a TIR1 user for allmost 2 years now and have been very, very satisfied with it and its software.

Yesterday I downloaded the latest version after I have read that TIR1 users will benefit from the new version as well.

Unfortunately the following happened:

I installed 3.01 (I unplugged the TIR unit before)

I plugged it back in after install and launched its interface. so far so good. Then I launched IL2-FB (out of the box version) and gave it a try.

It felt less smooth than the old 2.11 version and so i decided to CTRL+ESC in order to change the smotthing slider in the TIR interface.
when I went back to FB I found my position of view inside the trim wheel of my 109
I hit F2 to change te view and see if it would re-init and went back to F1 view where it displayed as usual.
As i continued to fly arround for about 35 min all suddanly my point of view started jumping arround inside the cockpit like when you fly through heavy turbulences (Ithought), but when I switched back to the TIR interface I realized that in fact it was the TIR itself which had become jumpy.
(I have no light source or reflective material behind me, I tested with allmost complete darkness)

So I rebooted my computer and launched the TIR interface - still jumpy (getting worse )

Then I uninstall the 3.01 (unplugged the device) and install it again, to be sure that the whole system is up to date I reboot again before launching the TIR interface.

But then I got a very bad surprise the TIR interface will not find anymore my TIR unit !!!
My system:
Compaq PIII 350 (dont laugh )
Win98SE
320MB SDRAM
Geforce2MX 400 64MB
IL2-FB (out of the box)

This morning I tried to install the 3.01 on another computer (Win2000, P4 2.4GHz)
but to the same result

I'm very, very confused and would very much appreciate any help!!!
Mabe I'm mad but i feel just if one have cut my arms or legs, cause FB without TIR is like a plane without wings

best regards Schallmoser

Hi Charlie,

Thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately I don't think this will work, since I allready removed everything (even in the registry) and reinstalled the version 2.00 which I used with great success since I bought IL2-FB.

My TIR unit will not respond anymore, whatever I do. I followed the advices from the troubleshooting guide line per line but I allways get the message "Can't find the File specified" and "The software could not connect with TrackIR device".

I checked my BIOS USB setting, tried different IRQs 5, 10, 11 with no success.

In the device manager I don't see the ETC Trackerboard, but I don't know if it should be there.

I'm really very helpless, so if somebody has an idea I would appreciate VERY MUCH!!!

best regards

The original release of 3.1 had severe issues with the TrackIR 1.

NP pulled 3.01, fixed it, and put it back up.

Remove everything you have regarding TIR on your computer. Download the 3.01 drivers from the site now since they are the correct (fixed) drivers. Install those and plug your TIR in.

Try that. Should work.

Similar here. Running TRIR1 hardware under XP USB1 port no HT. Installed 3.01. Now occasionlly when I start TRKIR I get an error message saying that the software cant find the unit.

Shut TRKIR down restart and the problem goes away.

QUESTION FOR NATURALPOINT
Can Ver 3.01 hurt my TRK IR Version 1 unit ?

Hello again,

I've got GREAT NEWS, my unit "resurrected"

Thanks to natural point support and some (long lasting) fiddeling with my soft and harware, I succeeded in making it work again!!!

I appologize for my suspicion that the unit was damaged by the new release, but you know, when you are realy desperated you sometime
loose objective view.

I'm the happiest guy in the world!!!

My very best wishes to everybody and happy flying
