Vector activation code
Re: Vector activation code
Derodo, you only need an internet conection to down load a couple of small files that are copied over to your TIR install directory.
As for Steam (I know not related to NP but as he is here ) if you disconect (or block using your firewall) your modem, then Steam will complain about no connection and then should go into offline mode and then you can still run HL2 without being hooked on the web while you play.

Vector activation code
Hi there,
I have just purchased the Vector expansion (still waiting for delivery), and I'm worried about the "activation code".
Natural Point's web pages say I will need an internet connection to activate the expansion, and due to "external problems" I still do NOT have an internet connection at home (damn ISPs!!!).
So I was wondering if it could be possible to activate the expansion in a differente location from where the track-ir is installed (that is, at the office ...or if it's just "Half Life 2"-like, and there's no other way than having that damn internet access up un running at home...
Thanks for your help

Re: Vector activation code
Thanks Barred, that's good news
And regarding HL2...what you say it's only true if you have passed the steam account creation process; and you NEED an internet connection to complete the it.
I had to take the PC to my wife's office just to make it work the first time Once the game was propperly installed I didn't need an internet connection any more...well at least until the last week...that f*ck*ng steam is complaining again "there's not a valid steam account in this computer", so I cannot play the game anymore (and I don't feel like taking the PC to the office again).
Hope I get that damn internet access soon.

Re: Vector activation code
True about that important first connection on the pc that has HL2 installed upon. I think that downlaoding software is an option for the future but needing to connect and then down load 10% of the code to unscramble it is a very bad idea. What happens if they go bust you then no longer have access to the code that you are intitled to via the licence agreement when you brought the software.

Great that your peace of mind has been returned. Enjoy the Vector it is worth every penny.

Re: Vector activation code
derodo,
Please let me know if you have any problems activating your Vector, I can always send you the files to another e-mail address, if you supply me with the codes that you receive.
You can then transfer them with a floppy disk, or some other media to the system that you have your unit and software installed on.

Re: Vector activation code
Thanks Wayne,
I hope it won't be any problem if it's just a code download issue.
By the way, I finally gave up with the ISP...I talked to my neighboor and we booth agreed on sharing it's Internet connection via Wi-Fi; and yesterday I was able to open the google home page from my centrino at home
There's still a little setup work left (you now router NATting and things like that), but I hope I'll get it fully working by this weekend.
Thanks everybody for your kind support.

Re: Vector activation code
Dear Wayne...
I installed my TrackIR 3Pro on Saturday using the latest software release. I then activated the Vector Expansion and now it says that "Vector Expansion active."
However, I have not received any extra code via an e-mail and as I have read a number of posts relating to this, I am just a little confused! Do I need this extra code or not?
Also, when I am using the hat with the vector clip and I view the head, I have the three green reflections, but also a red one which is the strip mounted on the hat itself. Should that be there and does it affect its performance in anyway?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Vector activation code
Vortex, when mine was regestered Iwas sent a link to download 2 small files to be put into the main TIR driver directory (I do not know if this has changed or not).
As for the 3 Green and 1 Red yes that is normal if you are using the TrackHat. The green means that it is being detected and used. The red means that it is being detected but not used for movement.
Here are a few tips to get the best out of Vector (I do not want to see you pulling your hair out )
Put the sensor about 30-36 inches away and about 2 inches above the top of the Vector clip when you are at your normal seating position (you might need a bit of help for that unless you are a goriller like me).
Adjust the sensor so that the 3 green dots are in the centre of the tracking window. Also adjut the cap so that the Vector is now at 90 degrees (at right angles) to the tracker.
Thise with verson 4.021 software should sort any upside down issues that some people were/are having (I have not seen any more posts about it since the 4.021 was released).
Now as for the red dot from the TrackHat. Since 4.021 I have not seen any posts with people having troubles with this, but it might help if the problem is there. Some people are/were recomending the following.
Cover the reflective material on the TrackHat.
Use a BaseBall cap with a straighter peak as some people were having trouble with the Vector being missread by the Tracker (I use a IronMaiden Cap as much to have a little dig at the wife and it has a straighter bill than my Track Hat).
Hopefully these tips might help, what ever enjoy your Vector (even in 2DOF games/sims), if you have any trouble please drop me a line. (I am not part of NP just a long time user.)
Good Luck

Re: Vector activation code
Many thanks Barred!
Registered mine but I wasnt sent a link so Ill get in touch with N.P.
Thanks for the info about the lights and settings. Im 6 4 meaning the vector clip is some 3 ABOVE the tracker! Im only 28 away from it as well so Im going to have to rearrange some things!
Vector hat now straightened with brute force and the reflective strip taped over!
Ill let you know how it goes, but thanks once again!
Regards...
