2.12 Beta 1, will NP ever finalize it?
2.12 Beta 1, will NP ever finalize it?
2.12 Beta 1: Will Natural Point ever make a final "official" version of this driver?
The reason I ask is that the software for the TiR 2 just doesn't work well with my TiR 1. It's not that I haven't tried.
And while it may work for some, there are serveral or more of us who have had problems with it. (so please hold back on the "works fine for me" comment)
I currently use the 2.11 final driver, which is great mind you, but the 2.12 Beta 1, actualy runs even better "FPS" wise.
It had one little glitch however (also experienced by others and posted at this forum) and that was that for some unknown and intermittent reason, there would be a significant drop in the FPS of Il-2 FB, to the tune of about 20 points.
As stated in earlier posts, a user could shut off TiR and watch the frame rates go back up, then turned it back on and watch the fps go down, all this happening during game play.
Only a reboot and restart of the game would stop it, and as mentioned above, the problem was intermittant. When it was running right, it was a noticable improvement over the already established and solid 2.11 driver.
While I can imagine how busy all of you must be with TiR 2 and it's new drivers, finishing up the last version of the driver for TiR 1, especially since it seems to be a such an improvement fps wise, (at least for FB owners, and except for the occational and unexplained fps drop) it would be a great way to "close the book" so to speak, on the TiR 1.
So, that leads to the question, "will there be a finished final version of the 2.12 beta1, with of course, the little fps drop problem solved?
Thanks.

Re: 2.12 Beta 1, will NP ever finalize it?
Considering that I posted the the above question back in December, (it's February 15th at the time of this writing) I can only surmise, based in part on the lack of responce in this thread and a dozen or so others on this forum that the "Support" in "TrackIR Support" doesn't stand for very much.
It lack of attention certainly doen't match the enthusiasm shown when the product was first being hawked on several other forums.
Perhaps Natural Point could save some bandwidth and money by removing the forums altogether since they obviously don't plan on responding to questions.

Re: 2.12 Beta 1, will NP ever finalize it?
Hello:
Sorry that it took so long to get a response from us. Most users post in this forum and also send us an email, so we answer the email and then don't post an acknowledgement in the forum. We are trying to fix this.
We do plan to update the 2.12 Beta driver for TrackIR1 users, we are in the process of rolling other feature upgrades into the same update, so it will be even better. Please hold on for about 30 more days. Thanks.

Re: 2.12 Beta 1, will NP ever finalize it?
Thank you for responding. This past weekend I gave the 2.12 Beta drivers another try on my TIR 1.
The results were the same as mentioned above. Increased FPS in Forgotten Battles, with the exception of intermittent drops in FPS in the 20 point range. The only way to get them back to normal involves quitting the sim, closing TIR and rebooting.
The majority of the time, performance was extremely nice with the Beta, noticeably better than the very stable 2.11.
If a solution can be found that ends the intermittent frame rate drop outs, these would be great drivers.

Re: 2.12 Beta 1, will NP ever finalize it?
Thanks for finally responding, Jim. This is rather good news. I was using 3.02, and liked it, but finally got tired of the occasional 'no device attached' message for no reason, and went back to 2.11. Unfortunately, had some problems there I hadn't remembered, so tried the 2.12b and got the same result as Triple A. I then tried to go back to 2.11, but it started doing the same thing.
I ended up completely cleaning the registry after the normal uninstall, and 2.11 is working ok again....but 2.12 showed promise. A final of that would indeed be welcome for my TIR 1.

Re: 2.12 Beta 1, will NP ever finalize it?
Seems I spoke too soon ; 2.11 is back to giving me the frame rate drop in Forgotten Battles just like 2.12, and 2.11 before I cleaned everything NP and TIR - related I could find; I can only assume I must have missed something, but I am not enamored of doing all that again. Quite annoying. I don't know what to do now...looks like I may have to go back to flying without TIR altogether, and hope I can someday afford a TIR 2.
I'd try 3.03, but don't want to go back to the 3.02 problems. I give up.

Hello Nealg,
I was sorry to see that you are still having problems.
However I may be able to help, there is a user that I spoke to yesterday that is looking for a TrackIR1 because he is working on the kernel 2.6 in Linux.
The bottom line here is that he wants a TrackIR1 and you want a TrackIR2, you need to talk to him, here is his link.
If he has already found someone then e-mail me and I will see what I can do from here.

Re: 2.12 Beta 1, will NP ever finalize it?
Thanks, Wayne - I appreciate the assist. Will contact him...yes, this is a strange thing. I do not recall 2.11 doing this when I first installed TIR, and not with the 3.xx stuff I tried. Even when I went back to 2.11 after 3.02, it didn't. What it did do was get very jittery if my sim's frames dropped below 50 - thus, I decided to give 2.12 a try, and experienced the frame rate drops. So, I went back to 2.11 - and the same frame drops were there.
That is when I began the cleaning process - uninstall software, search HD's for TIR, Naturalpoint, and ECT and ezmon.sys, etc. - then same for registry. Then reinstalled 2.11 - thought it was ok, but after a couple uses, it started again. Seems to be related somehow to the game's frame drops - I get those with FB in intensive situations - and with TIR running, the frames don't release back - turn it off ( F9 disable it ) they do.
I figure it may be a setting somewhere - it does it randomly, though, so hard to pin. Might even be the unit itself, though I have only had it about 7-8 months. I'd hate to fob it off on someone else if the unit itself is bad...but it functions normally in the software's GUI, so I presume it is ok.
Sorry for length....thanks again.
