Ok apologies to Rick - I had no idea he'd replied in that other thread. I did try using TIRattack 1.6 at one point although it wasn't supposed to be needed and as Rick asked I definitely have tried uninstalling CFS3, deleting all the folders and reinstalling without any luck.
Could it be that since I used to have TIR2 installed (which needed TIRattack 1.6 to work) that something is left over in the registry that an uninstall of TIR2 drivers would not remove and that is conflicting with the new install of the TIR4 software leading to CFS3 "seeing" the TIR4 unit as a TIR2 and therefore ignoring it?
If I uninstall both CFS3 and TIR4 using the documented procedures, what would I go looking for in the registry to delete to utterly remove TIR stuff so I can start fresh?
Could someone at Natural point create a simple utility that would look for and remove entries from the registry that apply to their product - a NukeTIR utility? Saitek has a couple (well last time I looked anyway) of utilities like this for their software so that you can be sure of starting fresh for reinstalls when having problems.
Rudolf, I use an X36 USB set. The drivers are the second last lot.
Cheers,
Stonehouse

Re: CFS3/OFF and TIR hassles
I get the impression that the tool provided by Natural Point fixes registry entries ie updates and adds rather than cleans all TrackIR entries from the registry. Anyway I did run it and it hasn't solved the issue.
Re: CFS3/OFF and TIR hassles
What version of TrackIR software are you using?
(should be able to click "about trackir" in the help menu to find out).
should be version 4.1 build 28.
also, can you email me your serial number?

Sorry been away on holidays. I'm using the latest version from the website which I believe is 4.1 build 28 - I'll double check that tonight when I get home from work as well as getting you the serial number.
Thanks.

Re: CFS3/OFF and TIR hassles
Just wanted to say, just got my new TIR4 yesterday and set it up last night. I fly IL-2FB+Pacific fighters and have to say this is an awesome piece of equipement to have!!
No problems with setup, just installed the CD, opened the icon it places on the desktop, went immediately to options and asked it to run in the tasktray only, turned off news updates, cause frankly i cant get those from the website, loaded up game and off i went. what a blast!!!!

I'm glad you like it simjunkie.
Stonehouse, i've replied to your email. My guess is that a mod may have intereferred with trackir's communication with CFS3, but i will also investigate the possible controller (saitek) conflict. more in a bit.
