My TrackIR 4 blinks a green led at the top about every six seconds whenever the TrackIR software is not running. This is obviously quite irritating when the device is sitting on top of the monitor.
It does this in Windows, even in the login screen. I tried unplugging all other USB devices I have but it didn't help, nor did plugging it to another USB controller. Any ideas on how to fix it? I wouldn't want to void my warranty by opening it and ripping that LED off it

No, and it doesn't appear to be doing any tracking either since it will keep blinking at the exact same rate all the time, even if I cover the sensor or deliberately direct IR light at it.

Kegetys,
Unfortunately you cannot turn that LED off at the moment. It's kind of like a status blink telling you that the Trackir is plugged in and ready to go.
Hopefully they will give us an option to disable that blink in a later version.

Too bad... Well, I covered the LED with some sticky tape for now. Looks quite ugly but at least its not annoyting

I have a slightly different issue.
If I run TrackIR 4 and then quit I get this green LED blinking.
If when I start up Windows I haven't run TrackIR 4 then I get a blue & red blinking LEDs.
I'm not really bothered by this but I'm concerned that my TrackIR 4 is on and 'wearing out' as it were. I hope you guys can come u with a sort of sleep mode for this.
Thanks.

You are not using any kind of USB hub are you? Or possibly using a laptop? Have you tried turn off any kind of power save feature for your USB ports?
In the "Device Manager" you can right click the "USB Hub"(s) that show and turn off the power saving feature that turn those ports off when idle. Sometimes that has an impact on the connectivity of the devices.

Thanks for the reassurance.
Just to confirm I'm notusing any kind of USB hub or using a laptop.
I hadn't thought about thepower saving option. I've switch that option on now but haven't seen any change.
