Can't get TrackIR Pro 3 to work with FSX
Re: Can't get TrackIR Pro 3 to work with FSX
hey gnouze, thanks for the info. Maybe I'm a moron but I can't seem to follow the directions you gave. can you be more specific on the install instructions. thanks
Re: Can't get TrackIR Pro 3 to work with FSX
Well, for a condensed version of one of the issues.
We use simconnect to "talk" with FSX, as does some other 3rd party hardware and software. One of the issues arises when simconnect tries to talk to the rest of FSX, as it uses the TCP/IP protocol to due so (what is used for the internet). The firewall/antivirus programs can sometimes interfere with this protocol, which then can cause FSX to not be able to talk with Sim Connect, which then entails the TrackIR not working at all.

I'll try to be more specific on the simconnect install thing . Normally, this piece of soft is automatically installed with your FSX install (either Standard or Deluxe). It was not the case for me because my install was corrupted, to make a long story short.
So I installed simconnect manually. Maybe you already have simconnect installed : just check on your Windows SXS folder that you have all files mentioned at the end of this post.
This is the way to install manually simconnect.
Look on the CD (CD2 I think) , there is a folder called SDK (this is some Software Development Kit and it uses also simconnect). Install this SDK by double clicking on the setup.exe in this folder. This will put all the SDK files in a dedicated folder.
In that new folder (where the SDK was installed), there is a simconnect.msi
Double-click it and it installs several files
- Under C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS
there is the x86_SimConnect folder, it should have the simConnect.dll file in it.
- Under C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\Manifest-
There should be a simconnect mainfest file and a security catalog file.
They are somehow related to Flight Sim X as they're named along the following :
x86_Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect_67c7c14424d61b5b_10.0.60905.0_x-ww_429211e9. This is the product ID number.
Is it clearer now ?

Re: Can't get TrackIR Pro 3 to work with FSX
Hi
I found that SimConnect.exe under....
Microsoft_Flight Simulator X SDK/SDK/Core Utilities Kit/SimConnect SDK/lib...SimConnect -Windows Installer Package
The Disc_1 contains the SDK Kit....MSFS X SDK setup.exe
different machine installs or different install routines or is Hitler correct in his (YouTube.com)review??
yet to see if TIR3Pro runs...will get back.
Bugga!, no go
Have I run the correct .exe?
As I can't find the other path

It should install in the same location, and the file after installing is located here
C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS

Re: Can't get TrackIR Pro 3 to work with FSX
Okayyyy
Uninstalled FSX and checked to make all files were gone
Also uninstalled FSX Demo
Also through Add/ Remove Programs there was a listing for SimCOnnect something or other (1.8Meg) that I couldn't find any folder for?) but any way, that went too.....
Reinstalled FSX and now in the C:\Windows/SxS Folder, the Manifests Folder contains (Sec. Cat and the .Manifest files). Also in the x86 Folder is SimConnect.dll file.
The numbers match the ones listed.
These files were not present in the previous configuration.
TIR and FSX is open in Norton's 2006 to all ports/ all adaptors/ any computer (two way traffic) and TCP/UDP protocols.
Still no go
( an aside...I do like the twinkling stars )

Re: Can't get TrackIR Pro 3 to work with FSX
Are you getting the blue light activating on the TrackIR unit, when FSX is running?
Re: Can't get TrackIR Pro 3 to work with FSX
I have the same problem.
TrackIR software picks up I'm running FSX (deluxe) though it's prefaced with Beta, I'm assuming that means beta version of the driver and not FSX.
Green LED comes on. No movement in cockpit.
Tried reinstalling simconnect and the latest .NET framework and patches. Still no go.

Are you running any Firewall/Antivirus software?
Are you getting the blue light activating?
Updating the games list will cause the software to not see it as "beta"

at that stage.... negativeAre you getting the blue light activating on the TrackIR unit, when FSX is running?
Turned off Pop Up Blocker in Norton's Internet Security 2006, as well as in IE7. I left full access through Firewall for TIR and FSX
...... Negative, no go, no blue light....zip.
Re-enabled Pop Up Blocker in IE7
Uninstalled TIR3 Pro v4.28 software (through Add/Remove Programs)
and installed 4.29Beta3, Allowed it to 'OverWrite files', updated game software....
and.......
wait for it......
<Toyota leap, click heels together, hands going high>
You Faarking Beauty, the blue light cameon, the green light was there, the TIR3 Pro is working in FSX.
My copy of PrevX1 told (might help, might not)
me Recent Program Activity:
NaturalPoint (R) TrackIR
Microsoft Help
Microsoft Flight Simulator
WMI
Run a DLL as an App
I must add however the newer TIR software seems a whole lot smoother to run with, just a shame that FSX gives me 10 - 20 FPS
