Thanks for your efforts. Hopefully it's something that can be resolved, I'll shelve FSX and stick with FS2004 for now.

You sent me in the right direction and now it's working.

It would appear that simconnect or the SDK isn't the most automated install procedure ever produced by Microsoft. It was obvious that the TrackIR software was doing its thang, but FSX wasn't coming to the party.

I re-installed the SDK, re-installed simconnect to no avail. However, there's an IPv6_install.cmd sitting in <path>\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Core Utilities Kit\SimConnect SDK\config\ directory which has either updated my IP stack or installed v6.

It now works. So thanks for your effort and patience and hopefully this might lead others in the right direction.

I stumbled across this while trying to get the SDK toolbox working, I did the install with firewall/AV/Spyware software disabled so it wouldn't complain about my protocol stack being diddled with, but with them all enabled now, it still works (for now) :P BUT I still haven't gotten the SDK toolbox working, so no time for flying. Time to fix that!

Thanks again,
Rod.

I'm pretty sure that it reinstalls/refreshes the protocol information.

Glad I could help out, and let me know if you have anymore issues.

I'm not keen on installing IPv6, it shouldn't be necessary anyway. I don't know enough about it to do it.

It's just version 6 of IP that's largely being implemented to increase the number of available addresses, since we're quickly running out. All that's required to install IPv6 is running the .cmd file in the path I listed above. There's an uninstall .cmd file in the same directory if you get squirmish about it.

It may not solve your specific problem but it would appear that simconnect needs it to talk to TrackIR so it's likely a step in the right direction.

I'm another one suffering with FSX not working with TrackIR 3 Pro Vector

I have Mcafee Antivirus running, but I have to say that the latest version of Mcafee proves itself to be quite difficult to disable (a reason I'm considering abandoning their userbase, as I really don't need an antivirus program acting like a virus!!)

I tried installing the IPv6 stack as suggested above, and I was unable to use my PC for the rest of the night. The original install corrupted my IP Stack and getting it back was very difficult (finally got WinsockXpfix.exe copied on an old floppy from another PC I had to fix it)... so I'm really not prepared to try that.

Lots of people have said they're finding ways to fix this, but apart from disable my undisablable antivirus, I'm at a loss of what to do here, and like others have stated, FS without TrackIR just isn't worth playing, and I really want to play FSX How far are we away from a real fix now?

Btw, as much info about my specs/system I can give -

* FS2004 with lots of addons installed
* FSX demo was installed
* FSX retail now installed
* TrackIR 3 Pro WITH vector expansion
* AMD dual core processor
* 2 x Nvidia GTX7800 running in SLI mode
* Matrox triplehead2go for display
* Mcafee Virusscan online

FS2004 with all this + trackIR works fine, blue led at bottom of the TrackIR comes on, but FSX no blue led ever comes on. If I run FSX the green light is on before it, but disappears after I run it. If I then stop TrackIR software and start again I get the green light back, but I never get a blue light.

Please help!!!

Had to reformat/reinstall my OP Sys and everything else for my desktop...long story with a slowly dying motherboard.

Anyway...Defragged before installing FSX.
Then defragged again after the instal.
Then downloaded (again....dopey didn't copy them over to disc beforehand) TIR drivers v 4. 29 Beta3

Then without doing anything except allowing full access to TIR.exe (TIR via Vector validation process and FSX.exe via MS validation service) through my firewall (Norton's 2006), all works like a dream...full TIR service.

Some seem to get a corrupt FSX install
Some have got TIR working after uninstalling, then installing the latest Beta3 drivers after installing FSX.

Also, just disabling Mcafee has not resolved the issue. Generally, it has reiquired an unistall of the software entirely.

It does seem McAfee is having some issues with AOL and other "no Access" for some programs as well.

When disabling McAfee is this being done through the taskbar or through MS Services?

Start/
Run/
Type in services.msc
Go down the list to Mcaffee
Redirector (Right Click)
Hit Stop
Then (right click again) and in the applet that appears... change 'Automatic' to disabled
hit OK

(To turn it back on...reverse the above process)

select 'Reset firewall to defaults' wherever that happens to be located in McAfee or... there might be a panel or something in the firewall part that allows programs to be selected and removed/ settings changed.

Run TIR and get some News or Game Update to re-allow access to the 'net (Seeing as FSX talks by tcp to addons reallowing access to the 'net is the same thing.)

might help/ might not
