Hi There
It seems that the external views in FSx now use TrackIR exclusively..not something I like at all... the hat switch is now inoperative when TrackIR is running and the view is looking at the back of the aircraft.
The problem is that one cannot set up any other view because it immediately springs back to the rear view...
I'm sure that is all as clear as mud... basically.. I don't like this set up at all and don't want to use TrackIR to look around outside the aircraft... it's awkward
Another problem is the emphasis on VC as more or less the default in FSx. This means that a lot of things that work with the mouse are becoming more difficult.. immpossible to hold steady enough.. to adjust. I know you can alter the settings of TrackIR.. but there are things that are just too small to lock onto for the time it takes to adjust them. This is not a new problem and there are a few things on my favorate FS9 aircraft that leave one no option but to switch to the 2D panel to adjust.
Not a moan.. just hope that we are not stuck with this way of working once you find time to sort them out
Love your product and use it all the time.. thanks for getting it working with FSx so quickly

Bully, I don't have FSX yet, looked all over today but no one was selling it early like I've heard some places are doing
So I don't have experience of the spot view problem you're talking about but I think there is some info on it in other threads here. IIRC, the solution was to temporarily pause TIR4 while in spot view, that allows your hat switch to work again.
Hopefully the final release will fix that, I can't see any reason to control spot view with TIR4!
As far as working controls in the VC with the mouse plus TIR4, again, the best thing I've found is to pause TIR4 while looking at the instrument you want to adjust. Then unpause it when you're done.
If you have an available button on your joystick/yoke/whatever, try programming the TIR pause command on it and see if it helps! (I programmed it on my Logitech G5 mouse's thumb button and it works great in the VC for clicking stuff)

Hi,
I became a TIR4 Pro customer yesterday. First impressions are fantastic, great product and very, very happy.
i wanted to post as I agree with the 2 points that bully makes above. I too am experiencing 'shaking' when trying to adjust controls in the virtual cockpits. I think the most difficult one is the Airbus as not only do the switches enable you to increase or decrease the value but the actual switch itself is an on/off switch too. This is fine in real ife (I imagine) but a nightmare with TIR4 and the latest release of drivers for FSX.
You can literally turn a good flight into a disaster as TIR4 becomes uncontrollable as you try to change heading etc whilst navigating.
another point I agree with is that whilst looking down, there seems to be a destablized 'zone' that pins your head to the seat. This is quite hard to explain but basically if TIR4 doesn't like the angle your trying to achieve it has a little tantrum to itself then pins you head to the seat aiming down. Your literally left looking at the bottom of the seat. This too is a nightmare in flight.
I get very different results in the TIR4 software than I do in FSX unfortunately. What I mean is when I calibrate it in the TIR4 software the movement of the head is perfect, matches exactly what I'm doing. When I load FSX is becomes over sensitive and generally unstable.
I realise these are only BETA drivers and there will be improvements on the way. I'm not moaning just providing relevant, constructive feedback.
The tips that the above post give are good tips. Pausing does work, for now, but it would be great to have these issues resolved.
EDIT: Forgot to say, I'm seeing good FPS in the VC. That isn't a problem for me. I'm also using the latest BETA drivers .30.

Re: TrackIR takes over from hat switch in FSx...wh
Hi
Thanks for the heads up and the advice. Pausing the unit certainly works on both problems and makes life a lot easier. I have not upgraded to TrackIR 4 yet as I am still not sure that the improvememnt over my existing unit (3) is worth the expense of a new unit. Has anybody upgraded to TrackIR4 from the previous unit...if so, what would encourage me to do the same.
Thanks again for the help.

Hi Bully
I am also getting the same problem with the 'hat' switch. The regular 'hat' switch has been taken over by TrackIR, which I am sure is not what is supposed to happen. The VC part works fine.
I did try the new software in FS9 and it works perfect, so I am sure that the programmers will be able to provide a fix on the next update before the programme is released as fully working.
I got FSX on Saturday morning from Amazon UK and I paid just 44.99 instead of the quoted 59.99. Not a bad discount, and I should think ity will be the lowest price in UK.

Currently, FSX detects if you have a TrackIR running and if the detection is positive, it then allows the TrackIR to be the primary unit for view control. This is part of the FSX itself, as currently isn't anything that we can adjust. Pausing the TrackIR unit allows FSX to then allow other input devices to change the view aspect of the sim application.
