Track IR w/ TrackHat

I have had a Track IR 1 for a while, and I lost the sheet of dots, so I decided to get a trackhat, however, my Track IR does cannot see the reflective material past about 3 inches. I remember how well this worked with the dots, but I am really dissapointed with the TrackHat, am I doing something wrong??? I have the setting for TrackHat set in the dot size. I am using Windows XP, and there is no way for me to get Admin priveleges here, but that never caused a problem when I was using the dot. I am using the latest version of the Track IR 1 Software. Do you have the settings switched to TrackHat instead of DOT so that it knows to look for a bigger reflector?

I just received my new TrackHat and I am having the EXACT same issue. I had been using a regular baseball hat w/ about an 8 inch row of DOTS lined up across the brim side-by-side that make a "strip". I have always had the software set as "TrackHat" and it has always worked great... so I thought I would buy a hat... which the software doesn't "see" at all. Unless I put TrackHat right up against the TrackIR.

This doesn't seem right. Anyone know why? Any help will be appreciated.

The current TrackHat are only just normal hats, there is no built in reflector on the hat. Now the current SmartNAV hat has a built in reflective material build into the product.

Thank you for your reply. I guess I'm out of luck then. I thought I was buying a "reflective" hat and it would work along with my TrackIR for in-game use. I didn't realize I was simply buying a piece of apparel . . . just a hat.

Hopefully these posts will prevent someone else from making my mistake. I looked at the return policy and there are no returns on wearable merchandise (including TrackHats) so I'm VERY upset right now, but I am upset with myself. I was going to return this for the correct "hat" but it looks like that is not an option. I think I'm getting too old to make purchases without my wife looking them over first... I guess I should have paid closer attention.

With that being said, I will be a good sport about it and I will proudly wear my TrackHat in support of Natural Point. Thanks, it is a great looking hat. I'll follow that link you posted and purchase the hat when my wife gets home from work and she has a chance to look it over and tell me that is what I want!
