FSX and TIR 4: does it work? (edit: Yes it does!!)

Post by Lange_666 »

Does TIR4 already work under FSX?

I currently run alpha3 version which list Flight Simulator X but i can't get it work in FSX. There's no respons at all in the game and the only thing i managed to do is getting an "axis" (left/right) recognised under "Mouse Look" by moving my head with TIR active and even then only occasionaly. Most of the times there is no respons.

I also need to force (exclusively load) the flight profile because it does not auto-load the FSX title when i start FSX.

After a full afternoon, i'm not any further then what i have written above.

so... does it work and if yes, how to make it work?

Edit: Got it work after quite a bit messing around.
Here's how:
- Uninstall any old TIR software and then remove any leftovers (why can't the uninstaller thake care of this?)
- Reboot
- Install software 4.1.029a3
- Done...:-)
Tip: Just change the disable and reset keys in your TIR profile because they collide with 3D view and Top-down view (F9 and F12) in FSX.

Not on mine it doesn't.

I've tried that (now often) and had no success with and without the reboot in the middle .. withand without the post uninstall clean up. I'll give it one more go.
A GREEN BUT NO BLUE TO GO!!.. Clearly there is some imcompatibility..
I might reinstall MSFX on a different disc while I'm waiting..

BUT what keys do you use to enable and recentre? I use Tab and the 223 above it.. maybe they interfere?

And what sort of "working" is that? .. Do the people at Natural point have to reboot every time they test their code
and if they do why isnt it in the manual?

Are you running any firewall/antivirus software?

What other applications are running in the background?

-1: Are you running 4.1.029a3? Also, make sure you don't have an exclusive load ticked. Let FSX load the propher profile itself (dunno if this helps but with an exclusive load i had some problems).

-2: I changed them to Shift+F9 and Shift+F12 in the "flight" profile.

-3: I always reboot after a manual register cleanup, dunno if it's needed but i feel comfortable with it...

@ Vincent: Because you keep asking the same question: What can be the problem when running firewall and anti-virus software? I run both (firewall=Win XP and anti-virus=AVAST!) and no problem with it at all.

There are some issues with the TCP/IP stack and FSX. The way that FSX talks with itself and with other applications is through the TCP/IP protocol. Some firewall/antivirus applications take this over, thereby causing communication issues within FSX.

Hey ho Lange-666(?)

I dont think there's a solution here.
I am loading the newest patch and I havent got the
exclusive load checked.
and nothing good is happening except that I am now taking the opportunity to learn how to do Navaid mumbles IFR VOR etc..
Again I have a problem.. I cant get rid of the morse code identifiers from the 'stations' Turning off the audio panel does nothing..
maybe its me but ..
regards

We are currently working on the issue, among several others, and hope to have more information posted soon.
