Re: Axis Y not steady.
Thanks all, and NaturalPoint for their kind support.
The issue remains. I tried to move away from the monitor, even more then 2 feet far, but it didn't change anything. The strange thing is that in a previous beta drivers install I had the same problem, and I'm talkin about Tir 1 not 4 (fixed with the final release).
BTW I'm confident that in the final release NP is able to fix it.
Cheers

Re: Axis Y not steady.
Wow. Looks like it may not be my TrackIR 3 Pro having problems after all, but driver issues. Good and bad news I guess.
Re: Axis Y not steady.
We are looking into the issue, and hope to have an update shortly.
Re: Axis Y not steady.
I have to confirm this bug with my TIR 4.
This is a real serious issue - when looking up or down more than a few degrees (with virtual head, only a few degrees with real hat!), the viewpoint vanishes in odd directions. This behaviour leads to really severe difficulties in getting the point of view under control and makes it almost impossible to use switches, read instruments etc.
This is especially a real show-stopper in complex cockpit layouts like in FSX (where you have switches, levers and instruments in almost every corner).
The problem only persists with 4.029 a3 drivers on my machine, when switching back to 4.028 everything is OK again.
If you need additional info, feel free to contact me via email.
Really hope you find a fix for that soon - would be a shame if TIR4 would not be usable in FSX quickly, because FSX is really a 'killer application' for TIR which would show the big advantage of TIR in a way that just takes your breath away - as soon as it works properly, of course

Re: Axis Y not steady.
We are currently working on the issue, among several others, and hope to have more information posted soon.
Re: Axis Y not steady.
The 4.029 alpha 4 driver version is a bit better, but unfortunately doesn't resolve this problem.
Re: Axis Y not steady.
Please send me the following information to support@NaturalPoint.com
1 - With the TrackIR software running, open the options under View (Tracking, Heads, and Gauges)
2 - Then go to Tools, and select the Start Recording option.
3 - Proceed to move the head about; Left-Right, Up-Down, In-Out, Side-Side, Etc....
4 - After about a minute, go to Tools, Stop Recording
5 - Go to the following folder on your system, C:\Program Files\NaturalPoint\TrackIR4, and find the following file trackir.tdf
6 - Copy this file, and attach it this email in a reply. This will allow me to see on my system what is happening on yours.
Could you attach a screen shot of your device manager, and tracking screen?
To make Print Screen work, you must save an image of what's displayed on-screen to the clipboard and then paste it into a document where it can be printed.
Windows Help: Print Screen
To do this, follow this procedure:
1. Maximize the window you'd like to capture.
2. To copy/capture the current window, hold down ALT + Print Scrn at the same time. To capture the entire screen, just press Print Scrn alone.
3. Open a new document in MS Paint, MS Word, MS Photo Editor, or Adobe PhotoShop.
4. Paste the screen shot by holding down CTRL and V at the same time.
5. Save the document as a .JPG or .JPEG file and send it in.

Re: Axis Y not steady.
Vincent,
although my time to act as your betatester is limited, I did some more testing. It seems that the problem is much worse when using an older profile which I configured myself (and which works very well under 4.028.
When using one of the profiles which come with 4.029b4 (e.g. Flight), the behaviour is much better.
I sent you the record file you asked for as well as the profile file which works fine in 4.028 but doesn't in 4.029b4.

Thanks.....
Re: Axis Y not steady.
Since i have installed the beta4, i have just the same
problem:
Looking down the virtual head suddenly turns to the right.
Looking a bit further down the in game head vanishes and
the virtual head gets locked in that odd position. Center
view does reset it.
There is obviously a new looking down problem.
I didnt have that problem with the final 28.
Hopefully you can resolve that with the next final version.
