Can't correct in-game head 'roll'

Post by choxaway »

I installed the latest TIR drivers for my TIR3Pro/Vector (assume it was OK to use these and they weren't solely for TIR4) and the only game I have that uses the vector expansion is BoB2. Just started playing this again, having read that the latest BoB patch resolved so many issues that stopped me playing it previously, and did a fresh install plus latest patch and after sorting out the DEP issue (discussed elsewhere) to get things running, settled down for some practice.
Trouble is I cannot get the roll to work correctly - if I tilt my head to the left/right, the onscreen view tilts right/left. Having checked with the virtual head in the TIR menu that the in-game head is working correctly, I tried checking the 'invert' box on the roll section and the virtual head showed eveything reversed as expected. However, fire up the game and despite having reversed the roll setting, my head tilt is still incorrect.
Anybody help me on this one?

Please send an email to support@naturalpoint.com, with the following information

What is the Serial # of the device?
It should be located on the end of the cable, near the USB plug, or on the underside of the device.

Could you attach a screen shot of your device manager, and tracking screen?

To make Print Screen work, you must save an image of what's displayed on-screen to the clipboard and then paste it into a document where it can be printed.

Windows Help: Print Screen

To do this, follow this procedure:

1. Maximize the window you'd like to capture.
2. To copy/capture the current window, hold down ALT + Print Scrn at the same time. To capture the entire screen, just press Print Scrn alone.
3. Open a new document in MS Paint, MS Word, MS Photo Editor, or Adobe PhotoShop.
4. Paste the screen shot by holding down CTRL and V at the same time.
5. Save the document as a .JPG or .JPEG file and send it in.

Thanks Vincent - got your email with suggestion I blank out the centre built-in reflective strip on the hat's peak, leaving just the three reflectors on the vector clip operative and now the roll function works perfectly. I had to remember to edit the profile and check the roll's invert box for this game as for some reason it works the opposite way, of course, but now it functions correctly and I can look around my cockpit properly at last.
I posted this question on the Shockwave forum and will bring that thread up to date as well.

Hi Vincent, Just installed latest patched version of BOB II, and I also get the opposite roll effect, ie. when I roll my head to the left, it rolls right and vice versa. I am using TrackIR Ultra.

In the options I have TrackIR AND vector expansion checked - is that right?

thanks in advance

You need to invert the ROLL axis, As the way BOBII does the roll is in the wrong direction.

A good tutorial for BOB2, and the TrackIR, can be found here....

What profile did you adjust the roll in?

Is it the same one that you are using for BOBII?
