outside views in fsx

Post by petejohno »

My trackIR4 is working fine in FSX but I am having trouble with my views outside the aircraft. When I go outside I can only pan up and down with the hat switch - trackIR has taken over the yaw axis. I am not sure if this is a TrackIR issue or a FSX setting that appears to have changed from FS9. I like to use my hat switch when in outside view and in FS9 trackIR had no effect on this ?

I have the same problem and definitely prefer to use full hatswitch control when viewing the aircraft in spot view.

Do Natural Point monitor these forums or do we need to send an email to the support area to see if this issue can be addressed in the next software update.

From statements Vincent has made before, it seems like this behavior is hard-coded into FSX and can't be altered. My workaround has been to set up a controller button to toggle the TIR on/off so I can disable it with the flick of a finger in external views. Then you can use your hat switch normally.

I'm usually lurking around here somewhere, and try to update the forums as much as possible.

As for the views.......

One of the new features of FSX is the expansion of TrackIR into the different view modes. You still have use of the TrackIR in the "Virtual Cockpit" mode, with full 6 DOF support, but this has also been expanded to the other views as well. As always, to disable the TrackIR rotation in the different view modes, just press the F9 key (default) to pause the TrackIR software.

"2D Cockpit" mode - TrackIR has support for head movement in both the Yaw and Pitch axes.

Outside View: Tail Similar to the 2D cockpit mode, in that there is support for both the Yaw and Pitch axes.

Outside View: Spot Rotating your head in the Yaw axis direction (looking left and right) will cause the view to rotate to the side that you are looking at (i.e. if you look to left, your view will rotate so you are looking at the left side of the aircraft).
