TrackIr Pro (4) does not work with FSX
TrackIr Pro (4) does not work with FSX
I know that there is another topic about this problem. Sorry, for asking again but, since I tried everything it was suggested, I really have no clues about how to solve the problem.
I have a brand new PC, MCE 2005, MCAfee Security Center.
I installed the TrackIR_4.1.029.Final App&Drivers.
I installed FSX Deluxe.
When I run FSX, I have 4 red small lights, one green light and a blue light but nothing happens.
I completely removed TrackIr drivers and re-installed.
I deleted the directory: x86_Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect_67c7c14424d61b5b_10.0.60905.0_x-ww_429211e9
and then I repaired FSX. Unsucessfully.
I removed everything (including Saitek X52 drivers) re-installed from scratch (but not the Saitek drivers) but nothing happens.
I "opened" the firewall. Nothing
I checked that both FSX and TrackIr apps were fully allowed to connect to the internet. Nothing
I added the localhost address (127.0.0.1) in the trusted addresses. Nothing.
What shall I try next?

Re: TrackIr Pro (4) does not work with FSX
Well, it sounds like the TrackIR software is seeing FSX, and talking to part of it, hence the blue light.
1- Are the heads tracking fine in the TrackIR software?
2- Have you tried removing the simconnect folder again?

Re: TrackIr Pro (4) does not work with FSX
Thank you for replying.
1. Heads are fully working with TrackIr software.
2. I reinstalled everything. Moreover, since it was not working, I deleted the folder and I restore. I also run simconnect.msi that was on the DVD.
I run FSX with this simconnect.ini:
The output (log) is:
Hope it helps.
Thank you.

Hi Vincent.
Did you find out some hint?

Nope, doesn't mean a thing on our end.
Which firewall software are you using?

Re: TrackIr Pro (4) does not work with FSX
Vincent,
I am currently running McAfee Security Suite 8.
Let me know what I can do for troubleshooting the problem.
As I wrote before, I run FSX by enabling the SimConnect logging features. It seems that Simconnect is "inactive".
What does it mean?
TrackIr detects FSX and loads the appropriate profile... but then nothing happens.
There is "sequence" that I must follow when istalling the products (Trackir & FSX)?
I understand that changing the sequence of installation is only a work-around but, for the time beeing, that would be enough.
Thanks.

Re: TrackIr Pro (4) does not work with FSX
stupid question but one easily overlooked - did you turn it on (F9)? Also a few FS applications use the key F9 as a default key - you may have to re-assign keys, as I did, to get mine working OK.
Re: TrackIr Pro (4) does not work with FSX
Yes. I re-mapped to Shift+F9. However, if I "alt-tab" out of FSX, TrackIr is "Enabled".
Thank you.
Thank you.
Re: TrackIr Pro (4) does not work with FSX
If the "simconnect" is logging to inactive. That would cause an issue with the TrackIR, and its functionality. It requires simconnect to be working, and running properly, for the TrackIR to adjust the view in FSX.
Have you tried contacting Microsoft about the inactive setting?

Re: TrackIr Pro (4) does not work with FSX
I understand and I agree with you. Just to add a few more tests I did, if I "alt+tab" out from FSX and I shut down TrackIr and, then, I restart it, this is what I get:
0.00000 SimConnect version 0x00000002
16.48805 [63] Inactive!
256.01500 [63] Inactive!
This clearly means that TrackIr is trying to init the simconnect interface but, for some reason, it does not work.
Now, if the firewall would cause TrackIr and SimConnect to dialogue, why:
- TrackIr is detecting FSX
- TrackIr is trying to init SimConnect
- SimConnect "feels" that something is trying to communicate with it but, for some reason, it fails
?????
I did not try to contact Microsoft because, as you well know, they would likely say "It's not our fault... it's Naturalpoint product (or is McAfee, or is BlaBlaBla)".
This is a kind of problem that you should try to reproduce and then to debug. Let me know if you need any info about my system. Luckly it is a brand new PC and, therefore, it can be considered as to be "a clean installation" (except for the McAfee suite).
