TrackIR 4 help needed for FSX

Post by Danflight »

Good morning,
bought the TrackIR 4 for the single purpose, which is to use it in FSX. Have spent hours trying to get it on, no success. I have read many posts here, on flightsim forums and tried many tricks and solutions, none worked. Can you please help?
Heres the situation:
TrackIR 4 latest ver. 29 installed, recognized by XP and working good.
The demo game Ship Sim installed - works excellently, blue light on, 6DOF working fine. So, the hardware is OK, systems works fine with TrackIR.
However, in FSX, no response at all, blue light off, seems like FSX doesnt recognize TrackIR at all.
Tried to reinstall TrackIR - still the same.
Tried to uninstall/reinstall FSX - no effect.
Is there anything else I shall do, like modifying some config files of FSX to get it on?
I have no USB HUB, installation of TrackIR was always trouble free, system got never frozen or anything. Its just not working in FSX.
Hardware:
Athlon 3500+
2GB RAM
ATI Radeon X1950 Pro
WIN XP Home Edition with SP2
Logitech G15 keyboard
Microsoft Sidewinder FF joystick

Thanks in advance for any help.

OK, one step to try.

1 Delete the following file folder

C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\x86_Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect_67c7c14424d61b5b_10.0.60905.0_x-ww_429211e9

2 Insert the FSX CD, and run the repair utility. Basically we are looking to reinstall the folder.

3 Hopefully this should remedy the issue.

Please let me know if this helps.

Success, it works now. Here´s how

Hello Vincent,
thanks a lot for your support. It just must have been that Simconnect thing. It works now, but I dont have a clue why, cause Ive tried to remove the Simconnect folder before (when following another post from here) and it had no effect at all. Anyway, heres exactly what Ive done:
Prior your reply ---
Had FSX Deluxe and TrackIR4 ver. 029 both fresh installed, it wasnt working - no blue light in FSX at all.
1. Uninstalled and reinstalled FSX once more w/reboot- no effect
2. Uninstalled TrackIR4 completely, reboot, then fresh install v. 029 - no effect
3. Unistalled TrackIR4 completely, deleting TrackIT folders and reboot. Then fresh install of TrackIR4 ver. 029.
Got your answer at this point ---
4. Removed the simconnect folder and did the "FSX repair" installation.
5. Without rebooting tried to run FSX - WORKED!!!

As someone was posting before, that perhaps reinstalling TrackIR as the last thing would be wise, I somehow thought this was the way to follow. But after the "another" deleting of Simconnect and repair of FSX, the sim has suddenly found TrackIR without installing the ver. 029 once more.
So it definitely had to do something with the Simconnect. Now its fine and Im really enjoying its functionality a lot.
Thanks again.
Best regards
Daniel

Sometimes the simconnect dll file needs to be reinstalled more than once. Seems that there is some corruption during the install.

Yes, looks that way. Since Ive tried the Simconnect solution before, I thought trying it again wouldnt make a lot of sense, cause it had no effect on the functionality.
Luckily, the other "repair" was successfull and it wasnt necessary to reinstall TrackIR software.
Once again, thanks a lot for your support.
