I just fired up FS2004 again for the first time in quite a while and have been having some issues with the tracking pausing for a second or two every so often.
I've tested it on the 28, 29 and 30 beta2 drivers to no avail and I've also monitored the task manager to see if the trackIR program CPU usage was spiking when the pauses occured. However there appears to be no connection with the CPU usage to the pausing.
I'm using FS9.1 and a Saitek X45 joystick. My system is an AMD64 3500+ with an ATI X1800 512MB graphics card and 1GB of system memory. I also have a Soudblaster XFi sound card. My racing games rFactor and GTR2 do not experience this pausing issue. All my video and sound drivers are up to date.
The pausing only occurs with the tracking of my head movements and it's not associated with any background interference or moving my head too far.
I'm going to try a reinstall of FS2004 and a different joystick next but I wanted to see if this was a known issue or if someone else may have a fix I can try.

I think I may have found the problem.
After much experimenting with different joysticks, unloading every TSR I could, trying different in game grahpics settings and even reinstalling the game it seems the problem was with my McAfee Virus Scanner.
Only after uninstalling the Virus Scanner could I get the pausing in my head tracking to stop. I even tried different games and even Microsofts CFS3 worked fine with the Virus Scanner loaded but for some reason FS2004 and TrackIR really don't like the Virus Scanner.
Unfortunately the newest version of McAfee's scanner doesn't seem to have a feature to simply disable the virus protection so I had to uninstall the entire thing.
As I test it more I'll let you know if the problem comes back. Hopefully this will help someone else with a similar problem.

Also, try disabling the Periodic news check, within the TrackIR software.

I ran a flight for over an hour last night with no problems. I've still got the news check enabled as well. Seems as though the Virus Scanner was the culprit.
