Dim red light
Dim red light
The TrackIR4 when plugged in to the USB has a very dim red light ans is Not seen by Windows XP. Same problem in 4 diffrent USB jacks, swapped the TrackIR unit with working USB acessories. The unit is about a year old and has been used a lot.
Re: Dim red light
Have you tried the device on another system?
Are you plugging in directly to the system, or are you using a hub?
Have you tried isolating the device on the USB ports?
Have you tried turn off any kind of power save feature for your USB ports?
In the "Device Manager" you can right click the "USB Hub"(s) that show and turn off the power saving feature that turn those ports off when idle. Sometimes that has an impact on the connectivity of the devices.

Re: Dim red light
only have one PC at this time so cant try another system.
I have tryed plugging in to the USB ports on the motherboard, the USB ports on the PCI card, As well as front and rear panel USB ports plugged in to the motherboard USB expansion slot. 12 total USB ports, 4 sources. on each ocasion I swapped the TrackIR unit with a functioning USB device, a hard drive, keyboard and printer.
On the top USB ports the TrackIR unit was used alone, as well as on the PCI card and on the back panel accesory USB. I have not tried the TrackIR device alone on the 4 primary motherboard USB slots. ( is that what you mean by Isolated?)
I do not have any powersaving feature on that I'm aware of. uless a setting changed with out my knowledge. January 20 I flew on FSX with TrackIR shut down the computer for the night, rebooted the next day jan 21 restated Flight Sim and Track IR was no longer functioning.
There are no USB hubs, just the 2 motherboard connections driving 2 USB ports each, the PCI card, driving 4 USB ports and the main motherboard USB ports 4. ( just trying to be clear on the 4 sources of USB. All powered from the main power supply. All connected to the motherboard or through ports / slots on the motherboard)
It might help if my memory could be refreshed about USB and power saving, I'll check what I remember but I have doubts I'm remembering everything.
Thanks

Also, could you send me the following info, in an email.....
What is the Serial # of the device?
It should be located on the end of the cable, near the USB plug, or on the underside of the device.
Could you attach a screen shot of your device manager, and tracking screen?
To make Print Screen work, you must save an image of what's displayed on-screen to the clipboard and then paste it into a document where it can be printed.
Windows Help: Print Screen
To do this, follow this procedure:
1. Maximize the window you'd like to capture.
2. To copy/capture the current window, hold down ALT + Print Scrn at the same time. To capture the entire screen, just press Print Scrn alone.
3. Open a new document in MS Paint, MS Word, MS Photo Editor, or Adobe PhotoShop.
4. Paste the screen shot by holding down CTRL and V at the same time.
5. Save the document as a .JPG or .JPEG file and send it in.
