Trackir 4 pro reboots machine

Post by GMTech »

Hi all, I just got my Trackir 4 pro today, installed the CD software version 4.1.030, and once the software is intalled, I connected the device. My machine detects it O.K. but then goes into driver installation again. Both times I installed the driver, Windows XP pops up with a "driver not supported by Microsoft" error, do you want to continue? When I hit yes with the device not installed, it finishes O.K. BUT, when the device IS connected and I click yes, my machine reboots instantly! I can't seem to get past this error. I searched the FAQ's and trouble shooting, but nothing helps...

Are you using a hub or plugging directly into the system?

Desktop or laptop?

Do you have the latest motherboard bios and chipset driver installed for the system?

Yep, you are correct. I unplugged it from my USB hub, and went right to the PC. Works great, thanks! Now I just need to get used to it!

I had this exact problem. I tried to install TrackIR4 Pro, before work today and my bloody machine kept rebooting. I was ready to cram the think back in its box and send it back. Glad I saw this post. I was plugging it into the extra USB port on my keyboard. After plugging it into a slot on my PC, it installed like charm. Going to try it in IL2 now.

Yes, the TrackIR will have a hard time getting adequate power thru a USB keyboard port.
