TrackIR$ stops interacting with MSFSX -- chronic
TrackIR$ stops interacting with MSFSX -- chronic
Since installation, IR4 software will work with MSFSX for a short while, then inexplicably, after computer shutdown, then wait a day or so and launch the flight program (MSFSX) and IR4 has stopped recognizing, or connecting with, MSFSX. (No blue light and opening page of IR4 indicates "none" regarding connected software). Tech suport at TrackIR has been helpful each time (4th time now) in giving directions to unloading and reloading various updated versions of IR4 software. After not using MSFSX/IR4 for a couple of weeks, I launched it today and again, the same old problem -- IR4 does not recognize the flight simulator software also launched. Something else happens, IR4 locks up and will not respond to 'quit' program command. Seems like the software has to be removed and reinstalled every two or three uses. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

It is something unusual....
1 - Are you using a hub, or plugging directly into the system?
2 - What type of system (laptop/desktop)?

1 - Latest motherboard bios, and chipset drivers installed?
2 - Have you tried turn off any kind of power save feature for your USB ports?
In the "Device Manager" you can right click the "USB Hub"(s), that show, and then select properties. On the power management tab, uncheck the box that allows the computer to turn off the USB port to save power (i.e. uncheck the box). Sometimes that has an impact on the connectivity of the devices.
3 - Standard, or Deluxe version of FSX?

When you atrat a flight, does the blue led come on?
Re: TrackIR$ stops interacting with MSFSX -- chronic
I have the same problem, with FSX as well as with FS9. The blue led light doesn't come on. No power safe features, plugged directly into desktop system, latest bios.

OK, I found the culprit: I once entered a new key to the fs9.cfg to hide infos like 'Brakes', 'Pause' etc. This seems to jam TIR. I ran a few tests, and whenever I deleted this key, the device worked fine...

Altering the cfg file, will cause the TrackIR software to have issues.....

Ensure that the notification messages in FS2004 are turned on. The notifications appear in the upper right corner in red when switching to the virtual cockpit. The setting is found in your fs9.cfg file located by default in:
c:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9
