Last friday I got my new TrackIr4. I can't get it installed properly. When installing the software, the log file says:

I've searched the forums, read some similar problems but the answer was always provided by pm or email...
I tried the following:
uninstall and delete all entries of NP and TIR from the registry, after that a reboot and a fresh install: same result.
I've applied the NPRegFIX program: no difference.
I followed the instructions in the troubleshoot section in chapter 10 of the manual (option c, with lots of rebooting): same result.
I don't think it's an USB port issue: the problem is already present before plugging the hardware in. Other hardware works ok on those ports. When I plug the TIR in, it isn't recognised and when I point to the driver to install it, windows still refuses recognition of the driver.
I tried it on my son's pc (same windows XP version): working perfect there, so the device and software are ok.
Any solutions? Help much appreciated.

I think I am having a similar problem . First of all I get a warning to be ure Trackir software is not running . I have never had any Trackir ssoftare before. Then after i install the software and plug in the trackir I get "Can't install hardware .... no software found"

Have you tried the device on another system?
Are you plugging in directly to the system, or are you using a hub?
Have you tried isolating the device on the USB ports?
Have you tried turn off any kind of power save feature for your USB ports?
In the "Device Manager" you can right click the "USB Hub"(s), that show, and then select properties. On the power management tab, uncheck the box that allows the computer to turn off the USB port to save power (i.e. uncheck the box). Sometimes that has an impact on the connectivity of the devices.
