Small Hickups

Post by Frobs »

Hi all!

I'v got a Trackir 4 for about 2 years now (also got the trackclip sinds a month), and it always worked flawless. But this week I got small hickups, once in a while. It seems like it stops tracking for 1-2 seconds, completely random. (sometimes I can play 15 minutes without problems, sometimes I'v got it several times in a minute.) It's quite annoying when your racing, and look into a corner, and suddenly my view centres itself. It's not really game dependant, because it also happens when I close the game and only run the trackir software. When it happens the "status" at the left bottom of the trackir window says no tracking. It just happens for 1 or 2 seconds.. The yellow or blue lights aren't flashing, also didn't change my seat position. Besides that, my tracking windows says that I've positioned myself right in the middle of the screen.
Does someone have any suggestions how to get rid of this?

1 - Only the 3 green dots on the tracking screen?

2 - Which version of the TrackIR software are you running?

3 - Have you tried disabling the Periodic News Check, under the options menu?

4 - Have you tried turn off any kind of power save feature for your USB ports?

In the "Device Manager" you can right click the "USB Hub"(s), that show, and then select properties. On the power management tab, uncheck the box that allows the computer to turn off the USB port to save power (i.e. uncheck the box). Sometimes that has an impact on the connectivity of the devices.

5 - Take a look at the size of the gaming profiles, in the following folder C:\Program Files\NaturalPoint\TrackIR4. If there are any larger than 4 KB, try deleting the profile, and restarting the software.

Well It seemed to be away that evening, but got the problem back again.

I have only 3 dots on the tracking screen, right in the middle of the screen also. Running sofware version 4.1.030. Period news check is turned off, also turned off the power save feature of the USB ports. That didn't solve the problem. My biggest profile is 4 kb.

I think it's kind of strange, I didn't change anything on my pc actually, it just happened out of nowhere..

Yeah I'm running AVG, turned it off but nothing changed. Still got the hickups. Did run Hitman Pro but my computer seems to bo spyware free. I also see not much fluctuations in cpu demand.

Hmm, and there had been no changes to the system?

Can you reproduce the issue on another PC?
