Crash on Install

Post by Malakith »

My TrackIR 4 + ProClip arrived this morning.

I put in the CD, install the software. Plug in the Device and windows brings up the "new USB device detected" followed by the window for finding drivers.

I allow it to auto find the driver, select automatic install.
click the "Continue Anyway" to the warning screen.

It makes it System Restore point, begins transfering the driver across into the folder then BAM, black screen on monitor 1, blue screen of death on monitor 2 telling me Windows has shut itself down for safety reasons and that if it was caused by a driver in the named reason below to contact the manufacturer.

Here I am, iv tried all your troubleshooting tips in the manual and it still successfully kills my PC every time.

system spec:
Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.070227-2254)
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6700 @ 2.66GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory: 2048MB
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)RAM
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX
Card name: Creative SB X-Fi Audio [9c00]

Are you plugging directly into the PC case, or are you using a hub of any kind?

Have you tried moving USB ports?

Do you have the latest chipset drivers, and motherboard bios installed?

This began happening with me as well. I had rearanged my desk and plugged my 4Pro into a different hub. On new hardware detect and the driver load, right after the unsigned warning my PC would black screen. On a hunch I moved it to a PC port and back to normal.

What type of hub?

Does it have its own power supply?
