Very poor tracking

Post by redcoat »

I have had trackIR for over a year and it worked great until I got my new duel core PC last August (Widescreen monitor). Since that time I cannot use the device because its tracking is too sporatic. Is their any help other than "check for light behind you"? I have tried disabling one of my cores and messing with all the options. Dose the widescreen have anything to do with it?

I have a Nvidia 8800

Cheers

The wide screen shouldn't have any issue, as well as the dual core system.

Bring up the tracking window and click settings.

When I installed the TrackIR software on my newest computer, Light Filtering was already checked and turned up waaay too high. Make sure it's set to something reasonable like 100, or try unchecking light filtering.

I have tried every setting available in the menu. Its wierd, the thing worked great on my 3 year old computer, now it doesnt work at all. Maybe I need to restart my computer for the settings to tak effect?

Can reflections from the wall behind me cause this even though I see nothing but the three green headset dot in the tracking window? Because I did have to move my camera slightly on my new bigger moniter. Other than that I can't to do anything to get this baby working again. Could my unit be defective?

I ordered the track IR clip yesterday, perhaps it will work better with that instead of the hat clip.

If you are only seeing "3 green on the screen" then the erratic behaviour is most likely not IR related.

Are you running any Anti-virus/Firewall software?

Have you tried turn off any kind of power save feature for your USB ports?

In the "Device Manager" you can right click the "USB Hub"(s), that show, and then select properties. On the power management tab, uncheck the box that allows the computer to turn off the USB port to save power (i.e. uncheck the box). Sometimes that has an impact on the connectivity of the devices.

In the following folder location, C:\Program Files\NaturalPoint\TrackIR4\Profiles, what is the file size for each profile?
