How to use precision

Just got SmartNav 3 and am enjoying. Can you please tell me how to use precision ? It looks like it is assigned to F8 and I understand that when pressed, small head movements become "significant" in a small area. I tried this in a word drawing but I don't think that I noticed any difference. Can you help me understand this feature ?

When you enable the precision mode, the tracking should take more movement to move the cursor across the screen.
