Hi-
Thanks for all the feedback. 'Nother question if I may: am considering purchasing the accessory foot pedal for smartnav. I have used one before (www.footmouse.com) and while it worked well, it stopped functioning after less than a year. It was "double hinged" so you clicked forward for a left click and backwards for a right.
#1 - how dow you accomplish right clicks when the pedal is only single hinged
#2 - is there a warranty on the product. Can I return it if it fails ?
Foot pedal
Re: Foot pedal
1 - If you get the single foor switch, then you set the function of the switch, in the SmartNAV software. It will only have one function at a time, but you could still do clicks, using the hotkeys from the keyboard.
2 - All of the hardware we sell has a 1 year warranty from the day of purchase.

Re: Foot pedal
I'm trying to avoid any clicking for mouse work: keyboard or mouse itself. Can you recommend a foot pedal that can do left, right, and double clicks ?
Does the single floor switch actually do a double click if you click it twice (I suspect not)?

Re: Foot pedal
I would recommend going with 2 single action foot switches.
Double Click Assist - built into the SmnartNAV software
A small pause will be inserted after single-left clicks to make it easier for the user to double-click. This works with left clicks issued by both the Hotkeys and Ability Switches.

Re: Foot pedal
I don't understand your solution. I think I'm about to give up on the SmartNav product and send back for 30 day refund. There doesn't seem to be any reasonable hands-free clicking solution. Buying a $200 noise cancelling microphone or doing some kludgy two foot pedal solution sounds like good money after bad.
Re: Foot pedal
The software allows you to do a double click, with just the foot pedal. If you want to do a left and right click, without using the keyboard hotkeys, the mouse keys, the voice software, then you would need 2 switches, 1 to do the left click, and one to do the right. Just like you need 2 to do that on a mouse as well.....
Re: Foot pedal
There are all kinds of switches that you can use to perform clicks. But you will definitely need two of them if you want to be able to perform both at any given time. That should not come as a surprise to you.I don't understand your solution. I think I'm about to give up on the SmartNav product and send back for 30 day refund. Try the website of "Enabling Devices" for a wide selection of switches.
Myself, I have very, very little movement in my arms and hands, and I use the switch that looks like a small black hockey puck to perform left clicks, and use my voice recognition to perform the odd right-click.
Give it a chance, I think you will find a solution that works for you.

Re: Foot pedal
Thanks for the suggestion. I probably have miscommunicated my needs. I do not need to more than 1 kind of click simultaneously. I just would like a foot activated switch that would do 3 kinds of clicks: left, double, and right mechanically without having to tell the software that I needed it to emulate a right click (or a double) the next time I press it. I was trying to understand the workings of the single action foot pedal that natural point shows as an accessory for smartnav.
I will check out the site you mention
thanks for your help.

You're welcome. Unfortunately, I'm not aware of a specific device that does what you want it to do other than a complete foot controlled mouse system. I know those exist. Thanks for the suggestion. One thing you might be able to do if you want to continue using the SmartNav is buy a couple of switches and mount them with Velcro to a board and put that on the floor.
