Just a Suggestion to Enhance New User Support

Post by FalconAF »

Natural Point,

I purchased the TIR4 Pro about a week ago. Love it in FS9. But over the past week I "discovered" numerous areas of support that exist ***here*** that I wasn't aware of until I accidentally stumbled upon them. For instance:

1. When I click on the "Support" icon on your homepage, it brings me ONLY to this "Technical Support Forum". I wasn't even aware there were separate product support forums for racing, flying, etc. Knowing about these isn't intuitive from viewing your main homepage. I stumbled across them accidentally by a combination of reading a thread from many, many months ago in this forum, and accidentally finding the link(s) posted on your homepage "Enhanced Games" tab. You might want to consider making a "sticky" post HERE pointing new users to these additional "game specific" forums. Once I found them, they answered a lot of questions that I probably would have ended up posting here because I didn't know those forums existed.

2. Would it be possible to start a post in an "Enhanced Games" forum that allows users to list things they've found usefull or beneficial while using the TIR4 for that specific game/simulation? A sort of, "You may not know you can do this with TIR4, but..." type of thing? I'm sure many users have discovered things that might make someone else's experience with the TIR4 more enjoyable. For instance, I would post something like this:

"Prior to using the TIR4 in Flight Simulator 2004, one of the things that really irked me when using the Virtual Cockpits was the inability to see most of the panel instruments due to most of the VC panel being "off the screen" on the bottom of the monitor. This could be "fixed" by adjusting the "eyepoint" values in the VIEWS section of an aircraft config file, but it was a tedious process that had to be done for every individual aircraft, and involved a lot of trial and error. Now there is a much simpler way to do it with the TIR4. Simply load the VC, then move your HEAD closer to your monitor (or wherever your IR tracking device sits). This will cause the VC panel to move CLOSER to you field of view wise. Now CENTER the new field of view using the CENTER hotkey. When you move away from the monitor now (sit back and relax again), your VC panel will come into full view without your outside view changing. With a little experimenting, you can set an OUTSIDE Field Of View (FOV) using the FS2004 settings under the FS2004 VIEWS menu, then adjust your VC panel using the TIR4 CENTER hotkey so it fits right in with it. No more "half of my gauges are off the bottom of my screen" anymore! Note also that you can use this feature in other ways. Do you want to fly the airplane from the Co-Pilot's perspective? Simply move your head laterally (to the right) until your VC view is farther to the right of the Co-Pilot's position. Then CENTER the view again using the hotkey. When you move your head back to where you started, you are now the Co-Pilot! You may have to do this a couple times until you get "centered" on the Co-Pilot's position when you move your head back to where you started, but it works."

Just some of my thoughts. Hoping to make anyone's use of your outstanding product even easier and/or more enjoyable!
