TrackIR Pro 4 & Flight Sim X jumpy screen

Post by Darwin »

Hi there, I'm running the latest version of the Track IR software (v4.1 build 30) for my TrackIR Pro 4 and I have a profile installed for Flight Sim X. When inside the cockpit or when using some of the external views, the screen is very jumpy even when I sit perfectly still. I have turned the 'Smoothing' setting all the way up to 100 but it hasn't solved the problem. I should mention I don't have this problem in other games such as GTR2 and RACE. Other than this small problem, I think it's a great product and look forward to future developments. Thanks for any assistance you can give...

What version of Windows?

Are you running any Anti-virus/Firewall software?

In the following folder location, C:\Program Files\NaturalPoint\TrackIR4\Profiles, what is the file size for each profile?

Have you made any changes to the system recently?

Sorry should have given more info in my original post.
I'm running XP Service Pack 2
Anti-virus is AVGFree with the standard XP firewall enabled
I have 4 profiles: Flight (4KB), Racing (2KB), Default_Profile (4KB) and Combat_Flight (2KB)
I have made one change to the system. I purchased a new Saitek X52 Pro to replace my aging Logitech Wingman 3D joystick. It could perhaps be an issue with the drivers for the new hardware?
I have the TrackIR unit plugged directly into it's own USB2 port while the joystick is plugged into a USB1 hub.

Any add-on applications installed for FSX?

You could try increasing the "Set Priority" for the TrackIR software, within the Task Manager -> Processes Tab -> Right click on the TrackIR.exe file -> Set Priority to AboveNormal....

TrackIR software, View -> Tracking, just 3 green on the screen? no red?

Thanks for the help. No, I've no add-on's installed, just FSX and Service Pack 1.
I've increased the priority for the TrackIR software, alas no joy! (I've a decent enough system, Core 2 Duo E6600, 4GB RAM, 8800GTS, latest Nvidia drivers).
The tracking shows no red, only three green dots. Do you think a re-install of FSX would help?

Try opening the profile being used for FSX, and select the deadzone settings, for the curve axis.

Hi again, I've edited the curve for the Y-axis - I think there's a slight improvement, but the screen still jumps (about once a second) when I keep my head perfectly still.

Have you tried a clean install of the TrackIR software?

Does this happen if you use the flight profile within FSX?

Sorry for the delay - being playing a little too much Bioshock!

I tried a clean install of TrackIR4 but the problem remains.
I'm using the default flight profile associated with FSX from the TrackIR software Profiles tab.

I'm not sure how to configure a profile from within FSX? For example, under FSX Settings->Controls, there is a Calibration tab. I have 3 controllers listed in the combo box: Mouse Yoke, Mouse Look and my X52 joystick.

Does this also occur if you select the Default profile to exclusively load?
