Pitch problem

Post by graaant »

Have spent several days with my new TrackIR 4 Pro ... a fine piece of hardware, but am having ongoing problems with the pitch axis. In Tracking view, the head is tilted either too far forward or too far back -- mostly back -- and no amount of pressing F12 seems to help. Sometimes, seemingly randomly, it'll click to a normal forward view, I'll go into celebration mode, then (sometimes after a pause), just as randomly the head will flop over forwards or back and then nothing seems to bring it back to normal view. The other axes are fine.

I have the unit on top of my monitor, located perhaps 3" horizontally above the vector clip at my normal screen position (much lower and the joystick would obscure the screen) but from what I've read this shouldn't be a problem. Have searched, reinstalled, checked drivers, tried different profiles, tried changing the curves, etc. without success, and any help would be much appreciated.

I hope to use TrackIr with FSX. System is Dual Core 2.66Mhz, Vista, 2GB RAM, GeForce 8800.

Looking at the tracking screen, View -> Tracking, what do you see on that screen?

3 green, any red?

Hi Vincent ... thanks for the reply ... with the exception of the few occasions when I tilt my head way back and the sensor picks up reflections from my glasses and shows red, only three green ...

Have you tried a clean install of the software?

Remove the TrackIR software by doing the following:
a. Click "Start"
b. Click on the "Control Panel"
c. Click "Add/Remove Programs"
d. Find "TrackIR" and click "Change/Remove"
e. Once launched it will give the option to completely remove it.
f. Delete the NaturalPoint folder at the following location, C:\Program Files\NaturalPoint
g. Download and reinstall the software from the following location,
http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/06- ... nuals.html

With the clean reinstall, things do seem to be settling down ... can use in FS9, and am beginning to have fun tweaking curves.

But ... a similar thing now happens in the sim, sitting in the VC, suddenly view flips to bottom of cockpit, and F12 has no effect ... but I'll try programming to button keys, see if that helps.

Thanks for your time ... will try to keep out of your hair from now on!
