Cursor Movement freezing on Vista install

Post by andrew.macdonald@nuth.nhs.uk »

I recently set up a SmartNAV 3 EG on Vista Home Premium, using the 3.20.030 driver. With the Natural Point Control Panel visible on screen, the mouse pointer moved as expected in response to the target. If I minimised the Natural Point (NP)Control Panel, the mouse pointer froze. With the NP control panel visible on screen again, the mouse pointer froze unpredictably on two on-screen keyboard programs and on a dwell clicking program (these work fine with the TrackerPro). I note from an earlier post that the version 3.2 driver is not officially Vista compatible, although perhaps this has changed as Vista is obviously listed as a supported OS on your download page. Is the problem of the cursor freezing a known problem with Vista? If so, is this likely to be resolved in the near future?

(I have previously used the SmartNAV successfully on XP).

With thanks for your attention.

It is not an issue that I have seen........

What keyboard applications are you using?

What dwell software?

When you are looking at the tracking tab (in the control panel), do you see more than one dot on the tracking screen?

Dwell s/w - Madentec Magic Cursor 2.3
On-screen keyboard - Madentec Screen Doors 2.3 or the Microsoft on-screen keyboard

In control panel, there is the main green dot and two small white dots to either side of the green dot (spectacle lens reflections) - this is normal for me and does not pose a problem when the SmartNAV runs on XP. Light filtering is on maximum and the LEDs are enabled.

Thanks

Generally any dots on the tracking screen, besides the i green, can cause tracking issues......

We have seen issues with the SmartNAV, and the Microsoft on-screen keyboard (within Vista), it is being looked into.....
